the map download screen of Navigon - Re: Seeing Eye GPS App, Worth It?

2014-09-29 Thread Charles Rivard
Because the subject matter has changed, I changed the subject line for
accurate reflection.

To get past the map download screen of Navigon, I go through and check the
maps I want to download, then use the download all button in the bottom
left corner of the screen after you have swiped past the last map listed.
It takes quite a while to download all of the maps, but, eventually, it will
have done so. I suggest using WiFi, as this will take a whole huge bunch of
your cellular data if you do not.

Juan, how did you manage that screen? I've been trying for a couple of years
now to figure out how to do it!

I like navigon for turn-by-turn.

The maps download intro screen is a bit of a pain, but once you get
through that it is actually really great.

If your main interest is knowing where you are, I think blindsquare is
better. However, if you want turn by turn navigation, it might be worth
the price since blindsquare does not provide this directly, however,
there are good main stream apps that will do this as well.

Hi, now that the Seeing Eye GPS app has been out a while, can people
give up-to-date impressions? Is it worth the subscription cost, or are
there alternatives that work better and more cost-efficient? Thanks for
your input.

Re: the map download screen of Navigon - Re: Seeing Eye GPS App, Worth It?

2014-09-29 Thread Eileen Misrahi
What's nice about Navigon is that I can download the maps I only need at a
given time. Therefore, I'm able to save GB space on the phone. Also, once a
year the maps are upgraded for free. I don't need much more than that in my
area. If I really want or need the full function of Sendero GPS, I'll use it on
my BrailleNote Apex. I could be mistaken, but I haven't heard if the Seeing
Eye-Sendero app has added the ability to create a manual route like in the
Apex. I use My Way Lite to create a bread crumb route and it has worked quite
well. JMO.
