RE: [Voyage-linux] Huawei E169G.. 3g HSDPA USB Support. On Alix

2008-07-08 Thread Robbert
Hi,

Are /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 created when you inserted the E169G modem?
If not, you might have to rebuild the kernel.

Regards,

Robbert

Hi,

Has anybody tried to get this to work yet?

Ive installed 0.52 which will then see the USB Stick as a SCSI Storage
device..

I then need to run USB_Modeswitch to switch the device to Modem Mode.. Here
is the problem, on running ModeSwitch I get a floating point exception
error.

Anybody know another way to get this to work?

[Voyage-linux] reboot sometimes stops in the middle

2009-01-01 Thread Robbert

RE: [Voyage-linux] reboot sometimes stops in the middle

2009-01-04 Thread Robbert
Hi Beat,

Thank you for your suggestions.

You are right; I have a bad mount point in /etc/fstab. The story is that I
added another usb storage, so I deleted /mnt/usb, and created /mnt/disk and
/mnt/disk2. Because I want the big disk to always mount on /mnt/disk, so I
created an udev rule to check the disks and auto mount them. I forgot to
delete the entry in /etc/fstab. :)

No, in the bad case, I can not login.

I removed the entry in /et/fstab, and will do more reboot and see how it's
going.

Thanks.

Hi Robbert

Try do insert debug output in
   /etc/init.d/udev
in the start) section
and in
   /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh
in the do_start section
The message in the bad case:
kill: Could not kill pid '1601': No such process
if very rare and the udev messages are missing like ...
Starting the hotplug events dispatcher: udevd.

Question: In the bad case can you login?
Is the proc and dev filesystem mounted?
I thinks there is in either of this 2 a problem...

Have you modified any startscript or do you have a bad mount point in
/etc/fstab?
The following messages are a little bit strange ...

Mounting local filesystems...mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or
/mnt/usb busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is mounted on /mnt/disk

It seens that you mount the root filesystem also to /mnt/disk

Only some ideas to go on ...

Greetings

Beat

[Voyage-linux] Compile kenel on Alix failed

2009-08-11 Thread Robbert
Hi guys,

I tried to compile the kernel on target machine Alix but failed.
My steps:

3) cp /boo/config-2.6.26-486-voyage /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage/.config
4) make menuconfig (

sierra sierra wireless driver
derivce driver-check Character device-Serial driver-8 number of
8250/16550 ports to register at runtime
)
5) make-kpkg --append-to-version -486-voyage kernel-image --initrd

Did I miss something?

Although I have installed the module successfully, it didn't work properly,
lots of error popup when you plug in the modem. I have to change back to

Hi,

I'm trying to update the Sierra Wireless USB driver for kernel 2.6.26 in
Voyage Version: 0.6 (Build Date 20090708) and I get an 'Invalid module
format' error.

This is what I do after a clean installation of Voyage 0.6:
- download
http://fr.voyage.hk/dists/0.6/linux/linux-headers-2.6.26-voyage_6.0-2_i386.d
eb and install it using dpkg -i package name. This installs the package in
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.26-voyage
- make sierra.c. The make file points to
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.26-voyage for the kernel headers; build is
successful
- when I try to install sierra.ko, I get this error message:
[ 1693.833588] sierra: version magic '2.6.26-voyage preempt mod_unload 486 '
should be '2.6.26-486-voyage preempt mod_unload 486 '

Invalid module format

modinfo sierra returns 'vermagic: 2.6.26-voyage preempt mod_unload

uname -r returns '2.6.26-486-voyage'

Do I use the wrong kernel headers (can't find another package ...)? Do I
make a mistake somewhere?

Thanks in advance,

Benny

About this sentence: Then I rebuilt the kernel to recognize the sound

does it mean that the kernel in Voyage 0.6.2 does not have the ALSA modules

Thanks for supporting,
