[voyager] Re: New V user/YAM2.3

2002-07-05 Thread Alan Buxey

hi,

V never suffered from 'strange' crashes while I had the previous
Yam installed (2.31 IIRC) ... but now I made the fault to 'update'
to the latest Yam (beta) and crashes returned ...
But it I cant be sure what the real problem is ... as there are
other problems which popped up since then ... even when Yam is
not started ... (Sanity check fail or something like this)
I've updated only two other related things
(at least of what I can think of) Nlist/Nlisttree ...
I'm still testing with copying back to older prgs/mcc's to
 no avail yet :-(

the new YAM 2.4-dev uses/requires/demands/needs (delete as applicable ;-))
the latest nlist/nlistree.

perhaps V isnt happy with this latest MUI beasty? I'm not sure
of the changes to NList, but i thought they were minimal bug/protection
issues and not feature implementations

Window that comes up with a Java error number. I don't know if this is
A java or script error. I do know, that the window gives me a Java error
 number.

You don't get Java errors. If you got Java errors, you weren't running
Voyager. Voyager doesn't have Java support.

It does however have Javascript support. There is no Java and script
issue here, but Javascript plain and simple. How long does it take people
to force this inside their heads?

What EXACTLY are we supposed to be looking at, André?

I don’t have a clue, as I said the message is made-up with a few peoples
Comments. Maybe use the browser and go to GOOGLE.COM and see the
 error it's Produced.

Kinda difficult if mine probably doesn't produce errors on google.com. Even
if it does produce errors (I haven't checked yet), I have no idea if it is
the same error.

What version are they using?

What are their settings?

WHAT is the ERROR they get?

Blah blah blah I can't debug a browser based on it's broken, some of
my friends said so.

On that JAVA problem, I know nothing about it or how to make it work, but
yes the error handling could/should be better done.

I go to pages now and then - and I am guessing it is the JAVA - but the
program dies and so my browsing is kind of cut short. :-/

This error on GOOGLE.COM is also annoying.

For what ever reason it happens, it is annoying getting the window pop up
every time I go there.

Now before you say untick the box, that is not addressing the problem.

I don't think that GOOGLE would have any amazing requests of JAVA, and that
it has remained is a bit upseting.

Could it please be looked at?

It does use a few things but they've all been fixed in the latest
beta, as far as I know.

Google works fine here in 3.3.122 for text links and most image links,
but you do get a JS warning of an undefined object/variable if Warn is
enabled.

He may not know that the warnings window can be turned off in General
Settings-Javascript.

However, this will cause a crash:

click on images to go into image search mode
type limpkin

you should get plenty of pictures of limpkins
click on the first one, which should be a link to Florida Museum of
Natural History

That causes a lockup and eventually a crash.

Going straight to the Museum site works fine.

We've had reports of nasty issues with Vapor apps and the new NList
stuff. If you need to complain to someone, do it to Sebastian Bauer,
*he* broke it, not us.

It will never happen.

It was rather stupid using two such similar names for different things. It
is bound to cause confusion. Nothing that you can do anything about, of
course.

I would never say that. I haven't got any friends.

There is no Java problem. The problem is Javascript. Two very different
technologies. Please make sure you talk about the right one. Here, you
aren't.

I go to pages now and then - and I am guessing it is the JAVA - but the

Don't GUESS that it is the Javascript. Find out, or ask someone else

[voyager] Text Input

2002-07-05 Thread Steve Turner

Hi All,

I'm not sure this is the place to bring it up but the V beta updates give me a
problem.

I use AmTelnet as a MUD client to play games on the internet. (AmiMUD keeps
crashing). When V is updated I get a new version of textinput.mcc (the MUI text input
library whatever its called).

Then when I use the chat bar in Amtelnet and press 'return' the chat bar is
deactivated. Aside from the annoyance of having to re-activate it with the mouse the
history seems to be lost ?

I have to go back to an early textinput (V28.3?) to make Amtelnet chat bar work.
Whilst on the subject, any chance of AmTelnet getting MUD client features like
triggers ?
