burner not working after update

2004-08-21 Thread Mandala Offering
Hello

15 PowerBook 1.5MHz 1GbRAM SuperDrive

Since the recent update to 10.3.5 the internal burner
won't burn discs. It fails at the beginning. I tried
burning with Toast and also from the Finder.

Any clues please?

Best wishes

compact projection

2004-08-21 Thread bill parker
I have a growing need to use my laptop (G4 ) to do presentations to
small groups of people.

Can anyone recommend a simple, compact answer that goes in a brief
case along with the computer? I am not looking for hi res. bells,
whistles, just plain delivery of short power point stuff onto a
nearby wall at short range.

[For Sale] iMac Rev D

2004-08-21 Thread Larry Pohl
Hi

I'm offering for sale my daughter's iMac (trying to put together some loot
to get her into an iBook like her brother).

It's a Rev D (tray loading) running at 333 MHz with 160 MB ram. We have OS X
10.3.4 on it at the moment but I think I have various flavours of OS 8.6 -
9.2.2 around here somewhere. It comes with the original keyboard and an
Apple Pro mouse.

I'd like to get $200 minimum for it otherwise I'll keep it for a spare.

A full description of this model is at Lowendmac,
http://lowendmac.com/imacs/imac-d.shtml

Please call at 9291 3162 or email me if you're interested.

Avagoodweekend.

Larry

Happy to buy as described and pay for freight to Canberra.

Can you just tell me what a Rev D is - do you have a pic handy?

Hey guys,

Just want to get your opinion on something quickly if ya don't mind.
A friend just dropped off a 500mhz G3 imac they've just bought which
I've committed to get up and running as it were...(you know the price of
evangelism!)

It's arrived with OS10.0.4 on (h scary!)

My friend just wants to surf, muck around with Photoshop a bit and do
lots of DJ-ey music type stuff

The question being

go up to Panther
or down to OS9

thanks for any wisdom

Help with a network problem please

2004-08-21 Thread Adrian Skehan
Need some help please -- having had to shut down a network system and
disconnecting the power from the Hub, Router, Printer and X Server etc.
to my dismay when I started it up again the Network wont work.

Shut down sequence:

1. Computers
2. Hub and modem and other peripherals

The start up sequence:

1. Started the modem and waited until all 3 lights were on and normal
2.	re-connected the Hub (port indicator light flashing (doesn't look
normal to me)

3. started the X server

Problem:

Unable to connect anything on the network, all the Port indicator
lights on the Hub are FLASHING continuously at all times, even when
everything else is disconnected.

I have tried starting in the reverse order with no change.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Regards,

Adrian Skehan

Hello Paul, the superdrive sounds like good value, how much did you pay
for installation or did you do it yourself, Cheers Bill

emac super/Combo drive

2004-08-21 Thread tom samson
I have just picked up an emac but it has a CD Rom . I have been in side
imacs quite a bit and I want to know what sort of DV drive is correct
for an emac -the price of the Pioneer sounds good but is there anything
special about type of drive I should consider

Re: emac super/Combo drive

2004-08-21 Thread Phillip McGree

The eMac will take pretty much any drive... in theory...

ie it will run the drive, but fitting it is one very complex job. I
replaced an eMac hard drive a while ago, there was something like
25-30 screws involved!

And if you do try the swap yourself, don't forget to be careful with
the power-on button wire when you pull the back cover off.

Regards,
Phil
