Hey Tony, I had replied to your query Sunday ;-) You can use the same instructions for one key as I sent you for pasting Happy Birthday To You all down the page. Re: Single Key Repeating.
Hello Ronni I know that you are very busy so I thought I'd just put it out to the group. With the single key Ronni, I had it set up so that every time I pushed down on 1 key and kept my finger on it, the key would just repeat, I used it for x or ii. Then for some reason it stopped working. When you first helped Ronni, a while ago, I took notes on repeating Birthday Wishes etc, and continue to use it, thank you. I thought ( dangerous I know) that I had set up something to allow me to repeat a letter just by holding a key down, nothing else, a puzzle that I am sure I'll work out at some stage, until then I will use the FN key as you suggest. So for example if you press and hold o, a mini popup should appear with special öő characters. It's like that because it now allows a shortcut to diacritical marks. You used to be able to disable this feature and restore repeating alphabetic characters by typing the following command in Terminal: defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false But that no longer works in Yosemite. I find the new functionality for diacritical marks useful and can't ever remember having a need to type a long string of a single alpha character. Re: Single Key Repeating.
Hi Tony, Apple removed the Single Key Repeating 'feature' because (as Peter has mentioned) of the same special characters like áéöő... Does anyone know how I can get any single key on my KeyBoard to repeat continuously whilst the key is held down?? I asked Ronni quite a while ago,who told me what to do for continuous text and for the single key, for some reason upon updating to YOSEMITE I can’t continually repeat any key whilst holding it down. Ronni has sent an e-mail again with the instructions for repeating sentences, thank you Ronni, but I had kept the notes for doing this, but cannot find the instructions on what to do to use a single key.
