Notifications is already is set to on. She is able to lodge comments,
Like etc. When she lodges a comment and I lodge a comment, there is
no distinction to me of who lodged the comment even though we're not
the same invitee.

 Hi Peter,

Ask the invitee (your wife) to turn on notifications in photos.

New iPhone 6s with my Car Bluetooth ?

2015-11-21 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi folks,

I recently deleted my old iPhone 5 from my Car Media then paired my new 6s with
the Car Media.
Previously when I started my car the iPhone 5 automatically connected.

However ??? this does not happen with my 6s.
Each time I start the car I must (on my 6s) tap Settings, Bluetooth, then car
Media and wait for connection.
Does anyone know if there is a way to automate this as it was with my old
iPhone 5 ?

Or perhaps I am missing something on the Car Media settings !

Regards,
Stephen Chape

It’s a Subaru XV 2012.
I am sure the issue is with the phone.
The Car Manual is quite straight forward.

The car gave a code to input in the phone for pairing.
I did that and the car confirmed pairing complete.

It is paired with the car, but does not connect automatically.
So every time I start car I must tell the iPhone to connect.

Re: Shared Photo Album to members with same Apple ID

2015-11-21 Thread Neil Houghton
Hi Pete,

I¹m not a user of Photos or iPhoto so these are just my ³thoughts² rather
than experience ;o)

I think it is as Tim says and I would imagine that the difference is because
Find my iPhone is based on devices, not users ie you could have multiple
iPhones and iPads and it should show them all as different devices (if set
up to do that) because it is looking at the hardware ID.

Comments etc are considered as input by users, ie by user ID, so you can put
input in by iphone or ipad and it still knows its ³you² as the device is
signed into your account. Anyone else signed in using the same ID is
considered as ³you².

It should work the other way eg if you shared an ipad, say, and logged in
as you the comment would show as from you. If you then signed out and
someone else signed in with their (different) Apple ID, the comment would
show as from them even though they both come from the same actual device.

Cheers

Neil

 Hi Peter,
To like an image or add and view comments in Photos for iOS, tap to open
the shared album, and then tap the picture itself to open it.
Beneath the picture, you see controls that let you like the image, view
comments, and add your own. To delete a comment, tap and hold your finger
down on it, and then tap the Delete button that appears just above the
 comment.
In the View comment window you should see:
'Posted by You' - an hour ago (or whatever) and your Comment by 'You'
Then under your comment you should see your 'Wife's comment & her 'Name'
and how long ago she made her comment.

Ok thanks Ronni, so it seems a dead end for now. Hopefully Apple will
in future iOS updates build in the "device name" identity for comments
in Shared albums for multiple invitees with the same Apple ID.

Hi Peter & Tim,
"Your name in comments matches the Full Name for the Apple ID that
you used to join the Shared Album." So this is most probably what is
happening, as Tim mentioned below.

Photo Album sharing is different to Find My Phone or Mac.

ElCapitan Mail - delete Junk

2015-11-21 Thread Severin Crisp
I posted earlier on this but no solution. In Yosemite and earlier, in Mail, on
the LHS, below listed mailboxes, was a little magic wheel dropdown menu to
Delete Junk, Empty Trash and the like. Nowhere is it to be seen in ElCapitan
nor can I bring it back any way I can find. What am I missing, it has to be
something simple!

Hi Severin,

Option-Command-J to erase messages in all your Mail Accounts Junk Folder at
once.

To delete all messages in a Trash folder, select the Trash folder, then
Command-A (to select all messages) then hit Delete

Ah the penny has at last dropped :(
Prior to El Capitan, Mail had three controls at the bottom of the Sidebar.
A Plus sign, an Up/Down arrow/triangle, and a settings gear.

These were all removed in El Capitan.

Re: New iPhone 6s with my Car Bluetooth ?

2015-11-21 Thread petercrisp

Ok, that is frustrating to be sure. I would try as per the link here
as a tip.

I would also try the following if it were me. Select the Bluetooth
pairing for the car on the phone as it is and "Forget this device"
and remove the previous pairing of the 6S phone within the car. Do
an iPhone shutdown and reboot, Start the whole process over again and
reset the pairing from phone to car. See how that all goes.

It’s a Subaru XV 2012. I am sure the issue is with the phone. The
Car Manual is quite straight forward.
The car gave a code to input in the phone for pairing. I did that and
the car confirmed pairing complete.
It is paired with the car, but does not connect automatically. So
every time I start car I must tell the iPhone to connect.

is done on your phone, it would auto connect on future occasions, even
if you hadn't deleted the old phone's identity in the car's phone
library.

 Hi folks,
I recently deleted my old iPhone 5 from my Car Media then paired my
new 6s with the Car Media. Previously when I started my car the iPhone
5 automatically connected.
However ??? this does not happen with my 6s. Each time I start the
car I must (on my 6s) tap Settings, Bluetooth, then car Media and wait
for connection. Does anyone know if there is a way to automate this as
it was with my old iPhone 5 ?
Or perhaps I am missing something on the Car Media settings !

Thanks Tim, that's what I thought too, but if Find my iPhone is smart
enough to figure out which device is which (within the one Apple ID)
then surely it can distinguish which device wrote the comment (from

Hi Peter & Tim,

"Your name in comments matches the Full Name for the Apple ID that you used to
join the Shared Album."
So this is most probably what is happening, as Tim mentioned below.

Photo Album sharing is different to Find My Phone or Mac.

Re: Shared Photo Album to members with same Apple ID

2015-11-21 Thread petercrisp

Yes, agreed Neil. Whilst I have two iOS devices myself, my other
family members (using 'my' Apple ID) all have at least one and some
two also iOS devices. So maybe the way it is currently should remain.
Clearly Apple will have considered this in their deployment to arrive
at the way it is set to be currently.

All good.

Re: Shared Photo Album to members with same Apple IDHi Pete,

I’m not a user of Photos or iPhoto – so these are just my
“thoughts” rather than experience ;o)

I think it is as Tim says and I would imagine that the difference is
because Find my iPhone is based on devices, not users – ie you could
have multiple iPhones and iPads and it should show them all as
different devices (if set up to do that) because it is looking at the
hardware ID.

Comments etc are considered as input by users, ie by user ID, so you
can put input in by iphone or ipad and it still knows its “you” as
the device is signed into your account. Anyone else signed in using
the same ID is considered as “you”.

It should work the other way – eg if you shared an ipad, say, and
logged in as you – the comment would show as from you. If you then
signed out and someone else signed in with THEIR (different) Apple ID,
the comment would show as from THEM – even though they both come
from the same actual device.

 Cheers

 Neil

Hi Peter,

To like an image or add and view comments in Photos for iOS, tap to
open the shared album, and then tap the picture itself to open it.

Beneath the picture, you see controls that let you like the image,
view comments, and add your own. To delete a comment, tap and hold
your finger down on it, and then tap the Delete button that appears
just above the comment. In the View comment window you should see:
'Posted by You' - an hour ago (or whatever) and your Comment by 'You'.
Then under your comment you should see your 'Wife's comment & her
'Name' and how long ago she made her comment.
 Cheers, Ronni

Yes Peter, that's true. I do find Siri quite selective in how clever she feels
like being.

Re: New iPhone 6s with my Car Bluetooth ?

2015-11-21 Thread petercrisp

What car is it Stephen, Model and Year and what Media options do you
have in the car? I presume you've read the car manual about "auto
Bluetooth phone connection" or similar? Typically provided the pairing
is done on your phone, it would auto connect on future occasions, even
if you hadn't deleted the old phone's identity in the car's phone
library.

Regards

Pete.

Subject:New iPhone 6s with my Car Bluetooth ?

 Hi folks,
I recently deleted my old iPhone 5 from my Car Media then paired my
new 6s with the Car Media.
Regards,
Stephen Chape

Shared Photo Album to members with same Apple ID

2015-11-21 Thread Peter Crisp
I set up a ‘Test’ Shared photo album as I was seeing some odd behaviour in a
Shared album (setup by my brother) that has more than one member with the same
Apple ID as another subscriber.

I tried a test Shared album myself, I invited my Dad (different Apple ID to me)
and my wife (same Apple ID to me) and my Dad got an invite and accepted and was
able to see the photos. My wife said she never got an invite and when I sent it
again (from my iPhone 5S using iOS V9.1) - the shared album disappeared off the
iPhone - and no way to retrieve it!!

This seems to be a bug with iOS V9.1.

I am sure years ago I was able to have other members of my family (same Apple
ID) coincident with other members (dissimilar Apple ID).

Anyone else see this behaviour?

Pete.
