Re: ITUNES CRASHING

2017-11-23 Thread Julie Bedford
Hi Ronni

Thanks for your suggestion. I did do this last night and the only plug-in was
one belonging to the software upgrade I had downloaded earlier, so I trashed
it plus the software I downloaded - trying
to think of all the possible offenders. I re-started the Mac and iTunes still
crashed. My last resort was to download the latest version of iTunes (I was
only was off the latest) - and it worked ! The
only thing I can think of is some file of iTunes somehow was deleted. I am
sure I would not have done that though.

I was beginning to think that iTunes will stop working unless one upgrades to
the latest version. However, that would be a first.

I would be interested if you have any ideas, when you have the time as it is
not urgent.

Many thanks

Jewels

Re: ITUNES CRASHING

2017-11-23 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Jewels,

To rule out if a third party plug-in or script is the cause.
Start iTunes in Safe Mode on your Mac, here is how.
Hold down the Option and Command keys on your keyboard while you launch iTunes.
iTunes will start in Safe Mode.
You will be see a pop up message saying “iTunes is running in safe mode. Visual
plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled.” Click “Continue”.
If iTunes is working properly without any issue in safe mode, a third party
iTunes add-on is causing this problem. iTunes add-ons can be found in this
folder: ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/.
To find out the problematic add-on, close iTunes, and move the add-ons to your
desktop one at a time temporarily.
Cheers,
Ronni

Sophos reports no threats in a full scan. I think I must have cleaned up the
threats but Sophos’s dashboard was still reporting the threats until I worked
out how to reset that, not a very intuitive task.

Thanks for your help

Cheers

Flikr problems

2017-11-23 Thread Rod Blitvich
Hi
I tried to share an album of photos from Flikr.
It seems people must have a Flikr login to view them - that didn’t used to be
the case
Also - to log in to Flikr you now have to login to Yahoo 7 - strange??

Anyone else experience these problems?

Re: Malware removal

2017-11-23 Thread Barry Sexstone
Thanks Ronni

Only disc shown in the finder is “Remote Disc” with no eject icon
Terminal shows:-
Barrys-iMac:Volumes BJS$ ls -la
total 8
drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 23 Nov 16:04 .
drwxr-xr-x 46 root wheel 1632 23 Nov 15:22 ..
lrwxr-xr-x   1 root  wheel 1 23 Nov 15:21 Macintosh HD -> /
Barrys-iMac:Volumes BJS$
so it appears I may have ejected the install disk.
I will do a full scan with Sophos and see if it still reports a potential
threat. I will report back when the scan is complete.

Thanks

Re: Remote Disc??

2017-11-23 Thread Anthony (Tony) Francis
Hello fellow Wamuggers

I have a question as to what is a “Remote Disc”? When I open the Finder there
is a picture of a Disc, called Remote Disc, I tried to eject it, no go, I
looked at the info for the remote disc and it shows nothing.

Thank you

Tony Francis

Hi Barry,

When you open the 'Finder' application - in the sidebar there is probably an
install disk that you can eject (has an eject icon next to the name).

You can also open the 'Terminal' program and type in cd /Volumes/ and then ls
-la. This gives you a listing of what is in that directory. If it's not in
there, you have probably already ejected the install disk.

Cheers,

Ronni
