Hi, Rob

 Try JB HiFi.

I try them after Harvey Norman but as I am in Geraldton. They did not
want to give me their best price over the telephone

and do not be afraid to ask for best price and other sundries as part of deal.

Yes ;-) - you should always see If they are willing to throw something
in or a discount

Hi Kyle,

sundries as part of deal.
I have been surprised quite often with there pricing especially in
Midland a lot better for TV etc. than Good Guys, especially for cash.

This is of course if they carry product or can obtain it easily
enough, this includes some pro level Panasonic Video products.
Extremely cheap pricing compared to my other sources.

Cheers!

Re: Off Topic: Buying A Nikon D90

2009-05-20 Thread Daniel Kerr
Hi Kylie

I'm not 100% sure, but I wouldn't think so, as Nikon are quite hard to get
accounts with or work with, and I believe a lot of the camera places have to
jump through a lot of hoops to work with Nikon. If they are quite hard to
work with, then I believe you'd only be able to work with a
shop/dealer/stockist of Nikon.
And if Nikon's warranties are similar to other products, you might be
surprised to the small amount of mark up that they actually make. In the
markets today most places really make nothing on what they sell.
But I could be wrong, and it could be different with warranties in
comparison to other products.

Someone else may know otherwise. :)

Kind Regards
Daniel

Hi Kyle, I'm on the Nikonians email list, and the consensus from the
experienced Nikon users is that stores make money on the instore
warranties because they are almost never needed. Usually if electronic
goods have problems, its early on, you find out in the first year.

If you are buying from one of the reputable places in Perth, then I
think you just have to make a decision based on your need to feel that
you are 'covered'. It may be worthwhile to shop around and do some
bargaining. Even Apple resellers drop the price on extended warranties
to make a sale.

regards, Susan.

2009-05-20 Thread Kyle Kreusch
Hi Susan,

I know exactly what's happening the good guys are going to lose some
money and are hoping to make it up with the extended warranties. Which
they are refusing to drop their prices on

Unlike Harvey Norman that took the $300 and something dollars for the
24 month extended warranty and slashes it down to $100

(O Not to mention the cheap nasty memory card and $14 tripod) - lol

To whoever is interested I am getting the

D90 + 18-55mm VR + 55-200mm VR
Includes: D90 Basic Kit (as above) + AF-S 18-55mm VR + AF-S 55-200mm
VR (3 Boxes)

$1,795 Which is a price match, from three month old Harvey Norman Catalog

(Harvey Norman Price $1,798)

This is for you Daniel (And anyone else that is interested)

Cannot Remember where I found this

Nikon Pricelist February 2009-w Margin
http://gmug.org.au/Nikon/

If you notice the good guys are making a Loss - but most likely they
have better buying power.

Kyle
P.S - I do not think im Going to find a better price online

Re: Off Topic: Buying A Nikon D90

2009-05-20 Thread Susan Hastings
Hi Kyle, that seems to be about the normal price for this kit. I went
for the D90 and new 18-105mm VR all in one box - its a decent range,
and although only a kit lens, is newer technology, so figured it would
be at least a decent lens, and it is. Its handy when travelling to
just have the one lens (and the 35mm 1.8, and the 60mm Macro 2.8 in my
suitcase). Overall a smallish, lightweight kit.

The pricelist seems out of date as the D90 and 105 kit lens appear to
be about $1700 including GST now: www.d-d-photographics.com.au/nikond90.htm

The 18-55 and 55-200 cover a better range, of course, if you don't
mind changing lenses in the field. And still a small, light weight kit.

I really like the D90.

cheers, Susan.
