Bill, I suggested two things. One was doing a hard reset of the phone, the
other was doing a full restore attached to your Mac. So, it’s not clear if you
have done both. cheers, Susan.

The results of your email command are provided below. Attached is your
 original message.

 - Unprocessed:
My “ancient” iPhone 4 seems to be out of control. The system is V
7.1.2 and there is 263MB of space.
The battery is now dying after 6 hours and less with limited use.
However, there are some emails that cannot be deleted ( except by
switching the phone OFF then ON)
The Email inbox is now showing 20,621 messages but actually empty.
The Email sent box has shown 116 messages but actually empty and
doesn’t change even if I do send messages.
Last night it made spontaneous call ( at 10.00 pm) to a number in my
 contacts list based in Melbourne.
The main screen also went blank and only was restorable by pressing the
on/off switch at the top, not the button at the bottom.
Its only used for phone and txt messages with the occasional picture
taken and not much else. Its on 24/7.
Time to dump?

Bit awkward isn't it Bill, if a wheel drops off while you're driving. If that's
the quality you accept I'm surprised you're not a Windows user.

Thanks for your help Susan.

I also found I had a battery problem - I sought help via a battery replacement
and no go there.Went to Telstra and found the phone was out of contract so I
started a new one with an iPhone 6S.

Restored the old 4 and will find a home for it or bin it.

Re: The results of your email commands

2015-12-23 Thread Tim Law
Bill I survived with an iphone4 for many years, then upgraded to a 6S. It's
just an entirely enjoyable experience now, I can read things in the screen,
everything works, the camera is wonderful, and Siri says goodnight to me in the
most delightful way

You won't regret your decision

The mechanic's ban would be because it's a Rover not a Cruiser, Bill so all
to do with manufacturing and design issues rather than fuel quality. Bit like

Hi Bill,

When you link the iPhone to your Mac iTunes should open automatically. If not,
open it manually. I can’t really give you a step by step process as Ronni does,
but you should be able to find a tab for the iPhone and messages about whether
to restore the iPhone or set it up as a new one. Maybe give that a try and see
what happens.

The iPhone can only be linked to one computer for backups, etc. I’m not sure if
using a backup of the phone would be a good idea as if the iPhone is corrupted
the backup may just restore the problems back onto the iPhone.

Is there anything on the iPhone that would be a problems to lose? Do you have a
list of your Contacts on the computer?

A LandRover might be even better for running over the iPhone than a
Landcruiser, if all else fails.

cheers, Susan

Thansk,

I’ll try it tomorrow when I have some time. Worth investigating with i Tunes.
the Land Rover of course is superior because of the wheel drop that the Cruiser
(utes) do not have, still working in the stage coach era.

Re: The results of your email commands

2015-12-22 Thread Susan Hastings
Hi Bill, have you tried resetting the phone by pressing down the on off key and
the home key together. You have to hold them down until it begins to restart.

Have you tried linking it to your computer and doing a restore as a new phone,
then Using your backup to restore things.

Cheers, Susan.

2015-12-22 Thread Bill Parker
Thansk Susan,

Tried that but the only things that has changed was the message count from
