Telstra NextG tethering does work already
Hi, I have been able to get tethering working for Telstra NextG with the aid of a little config file downloaded from the discussion forum on Whirlpool - so even if Telstra is slow off the mark, it isn't because it can't be done. With the one I found on Whirlpool, you can send it to yourself in an email, pick it up on the iphone, and it offers itself to be installed. Hi, I had a look at the site in Shay's email, and the instructions describe the process I followed, except mine was for Telstra. I already had MMS working, installing the config file allowed for the tethering (although I didn't get bluetooth tethering working, despite having followed the steps. I tried this one, hoping it might make Bluetooth work. However, it brings up the message, 'to enable tethering, contact Telstra'. I've tried switching off and switching on again, plus restoring the original config file I used. Hi Sue I don't know if you are saying that the message to contact Telstra was seen only when you attempted to connect with Bluetooth; I didn't bother to try Bluetooth, only USB. I only played with it briefly. The one cautionary message I received was that mentioned on the andrew.harrison.org page about not being authenticated. He says this means he's not a mobile phone carrier. That sounded plausible ;) An ethernet connection was established. I did have to renew the DHCP lease for it to work and quit tethering via SettingsGeneralNetwork again. Hi Peter, I did actually eventually get it set up by briefly turning on data roaming, then setting it up, then when I turned off data roaming, it stayed on. I haven't found that syncing with iTunes switches it off - so far. cheers, Susan.
