Re: To jog back to an old thread - when we were listing our favorite one
liners, can anyone think of the shortest one liners? I think Goober wins
with Yo! and Gomer wins with Shazam!

It's Barney, with 5.

Taking a Time Out

2006-03-04 Thread Marilyn Gerber
I've been watching TV-Land on and off most of the day and everytime they
show that little ditty of a tribute to Don Knotts in between episodes
and such, I still get a wistful sadness that he is really gone.

Thanks for all the laughter, Don, and I'm so grateful for the DVD's
because you will live forever.

Barney's passing

2006-03-04 Thread Anthony Sizemore

Don Knotts has left us and I am greatly saddened by this.
But I disagree that Barney died also.
Barney Fife should never be buried, and in fact be kept alive more so now.
There are people living now that never knew Don Knotts, but sure felt like
they knew our beloved Barney Fife.
It was stated that there are people not yet born that will some day grow to
love Barney Fife.
So, let's not bury Barney. Let's honor him more each day.

Thanks Don--

DVD

2006-03-04 Thread Jason Hollifield
I have a question that has probably been addressed
before , but I would like to ask it.
Are the Full Season DVD sets that are being released
by Paramount UNEDITED?
I see they are the complete seasons, but in no place
on the box does it say they are the unedited shows,
Thanks

Barney Fife died?

2006-03-04 Thread SHopk1234
There was posting stating that not only did Don Knotts die, but so did
Barney Fife. Barney Fife did not, nor will he ever, die. Barney Fife was a
character and he will never die because he will be on TV as long as TV exists.

Barney and Chester

2006-03-04 Thread Ken Anderson
Isn't it an amazing coincidence that Chester and Barney passed away on the
same weekend. Chester was in a way a deputy to Marshall Dillon and Barney
was deputy to Sheriff Taylor. Barney's gun kept going off and he almost
shot himself in the foot. Chester never carried a gun yet he limped because
of a bad leg. Makes me think there might be a connection to Barney's gun
going off and Chester having a game leg. We never were told how Chester got
that bad leg. Could it be he somehow got struck by a stray bullet?

Don Knotts

2006-03-04 Thread Larry Gillum
I have been waiting all these days for the right words for expressing my
sadness and grief over the death of our beloved Don Knotts. A week has
passed and I still can't find the words. There are no words.I'm
grateful I had the opportunity of seeing Don live in On Golden Pond, and
I'm grateful we were able to watch him make his exit through the stage door
following that performance. My wife, my brother and his wife, and I
waited there for Don's appearance with fellow TAGSRWC member,
Mark Hanley and his family. In my dictionary, Don Knotts was the
definition of
celebrity. Now that he's gone, there is a giant hole in the fabric of
Americana,
its entertainment industry, and its culture. The wonderful, classic TAGS
shows
that come to us via TVLand, and the perfect images of Mayberry that pop in
and out of our DVD player with ritual regularity seem even more important to
us now. We have lost another grand icon. And for those of us who come
from Mayberryesque towns and communities, east, west, north, or south,
and for those who've always wanted that kind of place, the dream lives on.
We will keep it alive. Long live Mayberry!

Larry in CO
