Andy Griffith Style
There was an article in our local paper recently entitled: Andy Griffith Style. It was about the small-town approach a local neighborhood police department uses. The police chief instructs his officers to embrace what he calls community-oriented policing. Or, as they say: the Andy Griffith things. That means, you know, go handle something like Andy would. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of our police departments could do things, the Andy Griffith way? Just goes to show you TAGS is everywhere!!! ...Mayberrygateway to danger... Barney is Everywhere...
Don't know if there are any Neil Young fans on this list, but thought I'd pass on that at a concert in Moline, he made a reference to our own Barney! He was explaining a song, about the devil and a jail, titled Devil's Sidewalk, that he was about to perform. A fan kept yelling Barney Fife, to which Neil stopped replied I don't think Barney Fife was the devil. A lot of things have changed in America but not that! It's a helluva an idea, I'll tell ya. Thank you for that. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Alberta Nelson
Not Gomer Pyle USMC, but she did appear as Flora in one RFD episode: Emmett's Retirement. She was still a waitress at the diner. Outisde of Mayberry, Ms. Nelson appeared in a whole string of beach movies in the mid 1960s. --Paul I agree with Doug. I always liked Alberta Nelson too. I believe she showed up in Mayberry RFD or Gomer Pyle USMC at least once. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
TAGS-MASH connection
We were watching The Gypsy episode a couple of days ago, with Jamie Farr. Jamie, as we all know, was a long time star on MASH, as Corporal Klinger. That got to thinking of other connections between two of my very favorite shows. Another couple are William Christopher, another regular on MASH. (Father Mulcahy). He played the new, young Doctor on one episode of TAGS, and I think he also played an IRS agent when Aunt Bee won her prizes in Hollywood. And there was of course Ron Howard, who was on one episode of MASH, playing a soldier who had lied about his age in order to join the Army. Can anyone think of more connections between TAGS and MASH?! Fred Pearlman This message, including attachments, may contain confidential, privileged or proprietary information. Choir Songs
Hello Friends; In the episode the church benefactor does anyone know the names of the two choir songs they perform on the show? In typical High Choir fashion the songs are beautiful but the words are hard to understand. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Re: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 3, Issue 67
I just got back from the Dove Awards (list of winners at: http://www.christianactivities.com/gma), and this year when they introduced the nominees and announced the winners, they would cut to past awards ceremonies with past presenters saying, And the award for ... goes to ... When it was time for the Female Vocalist of the year, one of the presenters they cut to twice was Andy Griffith! I don't know if that will be edited out or not for the telecast (check your local listings), but tonight at the awards show they showed Andy saying, And the nominees are... and And the winner is... I was so excited I exclaimed, That's Andy Griffith! rather loudly! Telephone or Tape Recorder
I have an observation of sorts to make here. You know in the funny episode where Barney is singing into that magic mike that makes his voice sound like the Voice of God? Well, listen closely in the epilogue to the dialogue. Barney and Andy are talking and Barney is saying how he couldn't believe how different his voice sounded. Andy is still trying to keep up the pretense that it was actually Barney's own voice singing, and said something to the effect like, Have you ever heard yourself speak on a telephone? Barney answers, Yeah. Well, you can hardly believe it's your own voice, Andy assures him. Now, my little observation is this: in those days no one could use a phone to hear himself speak. So do you think Andy SHOULD have said tape recorder? Personally, I have always considered this a minor mistake that just wasn't caught, and Andy was supposed to have said tape recorder. But maybe the script actually read telephone and no one noticed the inaccuracy of this statement--highly unlikely at the time, it seems to me since telephones were not at all the equipment we have today. But I don't know. And therein lies the question.
