I have an observation of sorts to make here. You know in the funny episode
where Barney is singing into that magic mike that makes his voice sound like the
Voice of God? Well, listen closely in the epilogue to the dialogue. Barney
and Andy are talking and Barney is saying how he couldn't believe how different
his
voice sounded.
Andy is still trying to keep up the pretense that it was actually Barney's own
voice singing, and said something to the effect like, "Have you ever heard
yourself speak on a telephone?"
Barney answers, "Yeah."
"Well, you can hardly believe it's your own voice," Andy assures him.
Now, my little observation is this: in those days no one could use a phone to
hear
himself speak. So do you think Andy SHOULD have said tape recorder?
Personally, I have always considered this a minor mistake that just wasn't
caught,
and Andy was supposed to have said tape recorder.
But maybe the script actually read "telephone" and no one noticed the inaccuracy
of this statement--highly unlikely at the time, it seems to me since telephones
were
not at all the equipment we have today.
But I don't know. And therein lies the question.
