I recently ordered the movie, got to watch it last night.Brings back great memories of the Starlite Drive-in in La Crosse, along with a 70 Camaro, Olympia beer, and a cule little redhead,a lot like the movie.Just like George Burns sang, I wish I was 18 again! One of my favorite memories.Ronnie was great in the show, a good lesson in growing up. Of course, that was Happy Days era, one of my favorite shows.I was always Richie, Never the Fonz. Statue / Thanks
I sure was sad to read that there will not be a statue of Don Knotts going up in Mt. Airy. Does anyone have any ideas about some way around CBS' decision? I wanted to say thanks for the reminder about the rules here at the digest. I know we all need reminding from time to time. Allan I want you to know that I think that you are a prince of fellow for all the hard work you do with the digest. Taylor Home Inn
I'm envious of you folks who have reservations at the Taylor Home Inn. When the Taylors made their trip to California, Andy was asked to stand on the corner of Hollywood and Vine and say, Hey from Floyd and Goober. I would like to request that when you all go to the Taylor Home Inn, please sit on the front porch, drink cider and count cars for me. Yes, technically, this was done at the Mindelbright house, but you can do that without a guitar or a good singin' voice. Oh, and if you bring any children, let them sit in a coaster wagon and eat pie. I was watching Regis and Kelly this morning and Regis asked guest Bonnie Hunt what television shows she watched as a child. The first thing she mentioned was TAGS. But she said her father would check to see if Barney was in the eipsode and if he wasn't, her father would say, Turn it off. Barney's not in it. Well, I think we all admit that our favorite episodes are the ones that Barney is in, but they're all good and stand on their own. If Ken in Wisconsin does get Andy's room for the night in the Wisconsin Taylor House, I just might bring my Ford Mustang up there and request car service from Gomer in the middle of the night. I just hope he doesn't toss and turn in bed and later light up a cigarette. But ultimately what would then happen is that I would be part of a convoy of cars driving from the Taylor drive way in Wisconsin to Bob Scheib's farm in Bradford, Ohio. I'd better make that trip plan on Map Quest! Don Knotts Statue
Dear Mayberry Friends. We are very sad to announce that the Don Knotts Statue project has come to an end. Due to a mix up at CBS, they have decided to decline on placing a statue of Barney Fife in Mt. Airy, NC. We sincerely thank everyone for your support and donations. Because of the $7,000 non-refundable deposit we put up for the statue we will have to sell the Mayberry Squad car and cart with proceeds going to refund any donations.
