Re: amber alert

2006-09-15 Thread Allan Newsome
i dont mean to be a party pooper... but can we use another term other
than Amber Alert? it just doesnt seem right (to me anyway) to use
such a serious systems name for Mr. Swump sightings...
---
Folks,

We'll keep using Amber Alert. As Joe mentioned, Barney was using that
term LONG before it meant anything like it does now.

This Digest is a Mayberry digest. Amber alert means one of us awake
at all times and nothing more. If it bothers anyone, please take it in
the context in which it is meant and try and over look it.

We've been using that term around here for going on 15 years. Maybe we
ought to have made the police change their term? :)

Otis Campbell

2006-09-15 Thread Ken Anderson
I think I finally figured out the real reason Otis spends so much time
drinking and staying at the Mayberry courthouse. In an episode of The
Adams Family this morning, Otis was the presiding judge on a case against
Mama Adams. It was the worst experience of his life, and at the end of the
episode it was said that he was a judge at a county fair. Now apparently he
began to drink as a result of his experience with the Adams Family. His
drinking problem led to his losing his judgeship, which in turn caused him a
great deal of embarrassment. So he relocated to his hometown of Mayberry
where he continued his drinking. Seeing he had been a judge and spent more
than twenty years of his life in a courthouse, it would be only fitting
that he would return to a courthouse when he had a snootful. Now whether
or not this solves the mystery of Otis' drinking, I can't really say, but I
think it makes a sound theory.

Soup Bowls

2006-09-15 Thread Steve Cooke
Has anyone noticed or did I miss how the soup bowls that Malcolm Meriweather
put down beside Andy got put in front of Andy and Barney in the next scene?
Malcolm serves from the left and takes away from the right. He then puts both
bowls down on the table and tosses the silverware on the table for Andy and
Barney to find the soup spoons. Then he has to ask Aunt Bee where she keeps
the soda crackers while he is faking to be gassed. Then he runs into the
kitchen for the soda crackers. The next scene shows the bowls in front of Andy
and Barney and Andy says this soup is cold and Barney replies that it is
straight out of a can because here is the lid. Still don't know how the bowls
got put in front of them though???

Amber alert reference

2006-09-15 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (SBC-OPS)
i dont mean to be a party pooper... but can we use another term other
than Amber Alert? it just doesnt seem right (to me anyway) to use such
a serious systems name for Mr. Swump sightings... the Amber Alert is a
very serious thing to help find missing children who are kiddnapped and
in danger of being raped, exploited and murdered.. i really dont think
its appropriate to use the term so loosely and jokingly... sorry if this
post is inappropriate... but this really bothers me.

Dear ladynoogs45744 and anyone else offended by this reference. Perhaps
you wouldn't have been so bothered if you understood where that
reference came from. Barney used the term Amber Alert (trained
noticers will help me with the episode) when he was trying to impress
some outsiders. He said further, referring to himself and Andy One of
us will be awake and alert at all times So that's the TAGS reference I
was pulling in. I thin I even mentioned that one of us would be awake
at all times, to help folks remember that episode. That you think I
would use it in the modern vernacular is a little bothersome to me, but
I understand your false assumption if you didn't know where the
reference came from.

I guess we do need to be cautious about terms that could be
misunderstood. Please understand that was not the intent. This is
Mayberry. Amber Alert is a Deputy term here.

With best regards
TH Untrained Voice

You don't even have to ask me to add stuff to that page. YOU can edit it
yourself. Just go there and give it a try!! That's the whole point to
the Mayberry Gossip Club sitethat you can add things yourself
without any help in doing so.

Please drop by and add information about Mr. Schwamp or any other

check every day or so to see if things need to be made to look better.
It's the writing that takes time so please help make the Gossip Club
