The Untrained Voice/Joe Gritton/Tribute Writer Par-Excellant

2009-04-30 Thread david browning

Joe Gritton has so much feeling for Mayberry and it's message in our lives. I
was so proud to perform the piece that he wrote. I first did it in 2000 at my
home church and then last Saturday night in Berea SC at Berea First Baptist
Church with their Minister Ronald Vaughan. What a thrill it is to take
someone's idea and words and make them come to life. Joe, you are a prince and
I am so grateful to have you as a friend and ghost writer. Also, my new
friends Tom and Kathy Rusk couldn't have been nicer and some of the photo's
from the show are priceless. So, thanks to all who make my life rich with
words of kindness and friendship that lifts me and the audiences that I am
blessed to perform in front of.

Scenes without Andy, Barney, Opie, Aunt Bee

2009-04-30 Thread Janet Anderson
As for favorite scenes without Andy, Barney, Opie, or Aunt Bee, one that I
particularly like is the scene in "A Date for Gomer" where Thelma Lou and Helen
are trying to convince Mary Grace to attend the dance as Gomer's date. I crack
up every time I hear the line, "Tall, dark..." "And a door prize!"

Correction for Ken & a Florence siteing!

2009-04-30 Thread hyperauntjan1
Just trivial trivialities - I believe the relative that Otis mistook
for the goat was Uncle Nat not Ned. Thought you would want to know, Ken.

Hey! On last night's epsiode, Aunt Bee was going out of town to visit
none other than Florence! She mentions that she almost forgot the scarf
that she made for Florence. So good to hear that she got a visit from
Aunt Bee and isn't missing after all!

Bettina Brenna a.k.a. Mrs. Richard O. Linke

2009-04-30 Thread brodahaver
TV Land has recently been airing 'The Beverly Hillbillies' episodes with
"Shorty Kellems" (Shug Fisher) and "Miss Gloria Buckles" (Bettina Brenna).
Brenna appeared in 8 episodes of 'The Beverly Hillbillies' from the 8th
season. Bettina is now the wife of Richard O. Linke, associate producer of
TAGS
and Andy Griffith's former personal manager. Upon viewing the statuesque
Brenna robustly hugging (more accurately, forcibly pulling in) the much
shorter Shug Fisher, one can't help but think that Fisher must have been
loving
life and if she ever hugged Mr. Linke that way! You can see Bettina at her
actor's best in restraining her laughter in the hugging scenes. Talk about
a kissing booth, we could have guys lined up at Mayberry Days in a hugging
booth! All proceeds would, of course, benefit the Surry Arts Council.

Re: the Ball Game

2009-04-30 Thread Dixonhayes
Just saw the episode "The Ball Game," which always fascinated me because of
its airdate: October 3, 1966. That was *way* outside Little League/school
baseball season, but just two days before the LA Dodgers took on the
Baltimore Orioles in the World Series (the Orioles swept in four games).
Methinks someone on the writing staff had a case of Dodger fever. (Of course
I
know Ron Howard also played real life baseball back then and this was likely
a nod to him as well.)

Anyway, does anyone know where the ball game scenes were filmed? It
looked like a real ball park as opposed to one built just for the episode and I

doubt one would be a permanent part of the 40 Acres set, since it would take
up space and be used so rarely. Plus, being filmed outside baseball
season would make a real baseball diamond more readily available than if the
crew had to work around a league's schedule during the spring and summer.
