Andy Griffith Show

2014-08-19 Thread Richmond Lucille
In today's newspaper there was a cartoon labelled "The Andy Griffith Show,
2014".  It showed a robotic looking policeman with pads on all his exposed body
parts, and a shield over his face, and there was a little boy with a fishing
rod (presumably Opie) beside him, running in the opposite direction.  I guess
it was because of the shooting in Missouri that they decided to print it.  The
artist had it just right!  Things are out of hand these days, sad to say. .

RE: TAGS on MeTV this fall

2014-08-19 Thread Harriet Browder
For the complete fall schedule...

http://metvnetwork.com/files/MeTV%20Nat%20Sch%204Q14%20Eff%209-1-14%20E-P.pdf

Back to back at 8pm EST. The schedule includes Mayberry RFD so not exactly sure
which they'll show first. Wouldn't it be a fair thing to see the entire serious
in order from The Housekeeper to the last episode of RFD?

Prayers and a few thoughts

2014-08-19 Thread linjanecam
Charles Adkins, my prayers are with you and your family at this very
difficult time. Please know that your dear wife is in a better place and that
you will see her again.

Dave Quinn ( aka Orville Hendriks), TVLand has a few good shows, but the
interruptions by commercials for the less desirable ones are the downside.
Generally, AntennaTV, MeTV, CoziTV and TVLand ( at times) seem the best
suggestions for family viewing.

Dave McClanahan, typos happen to all of us. Remember we can disagree with
our Mayberry friends and neighbors without being disagreeable.

Favorite Quotes

2014-08-19 Thread Keith Tacy

While we all love TAGS I'm sure most of us have our own favorite episodes. This
got me to thinking about individual quotes. Does everyone have a favorite that
never fails to make you smile?
Mine wasn't even said by a main character. It was when Andy and Barney went to
arrest Ben for making moonshine.
"I'm sorry I shot at you boys. I thought you was the law."

Andy on MeTV

2014-08-19 Thread Hughes, Clyde L. (HSC)
Fellow Mayberrians,
It's filled me with pleasure to see that MeTV will be airing TAGS starting Sept
1!
Here's the neat little promo clip. Can any of you trivia experts name the
episodes included in this commercial? :)

Names

2014-08-19 Thread DAVID QUINN

When Andy and Barney were looking at their school annual, it is revealed that
Andy's name is actually "Andrew Jackson Taylor". Andrew is a biblical name,
being one of Jesus' disciples. There are several lesser alumni of TAGS that
have biblical names, such as Ben (Benjamin) Weaver and Jubal Foster. However
I could only think of one other main character on TAGS with a biblical name,
can you think of who it is? Hint:This name is a name that you would not
think would appear in the bible at first glance. Also feel free to think of any
more of the lesser alumni that might have had biblical names. Orville Hendricks
- Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man. The name Orville does not appear in the
bible, but Martha's name does. However Martha never appeared on TAGS, she
was only mentioned.

Charles,
I am praying for you that the God of all comfort will give you His peace that
passes all understanding, His assurance of eternal life, and that He will fill
you with His spirit and His love.

Otis Campbell's Favorite Bible Verses

2014-08-19 Thread Ken Anderson
I thought I would share Otis Campbell's three favorite bible verses. Now I
know Bible knowledge is a fine thing and I should be flaunting it, but just
couldn't resist sharing this.
*Proverbs 21: 9*

It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared
with a quarrelsome wife.

*Proverbs 21:15*

A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike.

*Proverbs 21: 19*

It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful
woman.

Snappy Lunch

2014-08-19 Thread Sandy Whiston

While I don't post often I look forward to reading the digest everyday and
wanted to share my experience with you last week. I have been to Mt. Airy
several times but have never made it to the Snappy Lunch but I finally got
to eat a pork chop sandwich and boy was it good! Mt. Airy is about as close
as you can get to Mayberry so I just love going there. I got a few
souvenirs to add to my collection of Andy Griffith related items as well.
Thank you all again for letting me be part of this group, there really are
few things as good and kind as the Andy Griffith Show and I appreciate the
fact that everyone here works hard to keep the same spirit alive in this
group. P.S. If you Google Mt. Airy you will find that there is a live feed
camera set up on one of the buildings in downtown Mt. Airy and if you can't
make it to Mayberry Days you can watch the parade that way!

Decent shows

2014-08-19 Thread Marguerite

Cedar Cove on The Hallmark Channel is good, decent viewing and it is based on
the novels of Debbie Macomber. She also appears in Daily Guideposts

I can't wait to see Rachel vs Guy Kids Cook off on The Food Network. These kids
know more about cooking than I do.

Some might object but I'm enjoying Modern Family on ABC, too.
