Radio Trivia

2015-02-26 Thread Janet Anderson
The squad car has a radio which is used quite often. To my knowledge we only
SEE it one time ? who knows when? Just seeing the microphone part doesn't
count.

Others have probably already answered this, but I just now read today's digest.
Anyway, I believe it was in the episode Barney's Replacement when Barney was
demonstrating to Bob Rogers the intricacies of operating the radio (turning the
switch on and off).

More radio references

2015-02-26 Thread Ben Sandifer
Who could forget that famous local radio celebrity Leonard Blush! I can
think of at least two episodes where he was mentioned. Barney was listening
to him on the radio in the courthouse when Andy walked in and interrupted. I
believe Howard Morris was the voice of Leonard Blush on the radio. Also
Eleanora Poultice mentioned him as being one of her former students during
Barney's voice lesson as being on the third Tuesday of every month. Station
YLRB Mount Pilot. Was Leonard Blush mentioned in any more episodes?

Radios

2015-02-26 Thread Jason Stillwell
A couple of instances that came to my mind where someone is listening
to the radio would be the announcement of the escape of four female
prisoners in Convicts At Large and possibly in Gomer the
Houseguest. That one is up for debate because it might have been a
television. We don't actually see what device is providing the story
for everyone gathered around in the Taylor living room, but whatever
it was didn't have a remote control so they could turn up the volume
(nor did houseguest Gomer have a mute button.)

Mt. Mayberry

2015-02-26 Thread Harry Brewbaker
Since he was a favorite of mine, I think Floyd Lawson should be carved on Mount
Mayberry. Andy and Barney are automatically on there. The fourth will take
some thought. I'm not sure Aunt Bee or Opie should be included, but I'll keep
them on my possible list for now. For now, I've only got Andy, Barn and Floyd.
Since it will take a while to carve those three, I've got time to come up with
the fourth.

Well, if we are limited to four like Mt. Rushmore, I know Andy and Barney
would be there. And, most likely Aunt Bee Who would be 4th? Opie???

I must say that I followed your same logic. Andy and Barny, of course,
then I realized I couldn't leave out Aunt Bea. I was left with no other
choice but to choose Opie. . . the four main characters.
In hindsight, I think the four(five or even six maybe) most influential
characters from the series' run might end up looking quite a bit
different. I certainly think Earnest T Bass should be up there. . .
instead of throwing rocks, he'd be one!

Police Radio

2015-02-26 Thread DAVID QUINN

I really cannot think of when the police radio was shown, but I remember that
Andy talks on the police radio in the second show of the series, The Manhunt,
where he tells the state police man that he had already 10-4 him.
