A comment I read about TAGS
Hey to WBMUTBB: I read an article depicting TAGS stating that there was no room on today's TV for such drivel. The writer did say that the life lessons were very good, though. So I guess my question or my comment is: why did America allow TV to go in the direction of violence, lewdness, and downright filth that network TV has become? I enjoy TV, but on most occasions find the shows to be nowhere near as entertaining as TAGS, and definitely not fit for me to watch, let along my grandchildren to watch. Even Disney has a vampire show. Guess I am an ole stick in the mud, but it saddens me to think of TAGS being thought of as dated and drivel and these primetime shows to beaccepted. Have a wonderful weekend, and all my best to you and yours, Vivian in Lexington KY God Bless America! ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Andy Griffith
How very sorry I am to hear of Andy's passing. He was my most welcome houseguest and even though I didn't know him personally, I feel his passing in my heart. Thank you Andy, for all the hours of giving us pleasure, teaching us lessons, and brightening our world. Rest in peace and rise in glory, our dear friend. You are loved. And you have many loved ones to greet you in a glorious heavenly mansion. Bless your family and give them peace, Amen. George Lindsay
I had the fortunate opportunity to meet George Lindsay at a Mayberry Reunion in Nashville several years ago. Of course it was a high point for me, several of the cast members were there and I got autographs, Don Knotts and Betty Lynn were there as well. I heard this morning, he wanted to be remembered for making people smile. So we will remember him that way, smiling. Rest in peace and rise in glory, George Lindsay! Always you'll live on in Mayberry USA, I hope our Mayberry friends are creating us all a Mayberry in the sky! See you there, God bless you and your family. Songs:
They sang Spread a little sunshine for Ben Weaver. And they sang a little together on Lose all their guilty sins which is a gospel song. And then of course Mayberry Union High. And don't forget the choir. And about two words together of Juanita before Barney got flustered. Seems like there's more, but they elude me. And I could be wrong. The Fife of Life
Jimmy Tarrant, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne was making a point by using Nip it in the bud. Nip it! Nip it! Nip it! as spoken by Don Knotts in his role as Barney Fife. I had never thought of Barney as a philosopher before Bro. Jimmy called him one. So, when I got home from church, I consulted the World Wide Web and was amazed at what I found. Fife was a philosopher and continues to have a strong following of all types. There are YouTube cuts on Barney, forums for discussion about Barney, blogs about Barney and much more. There is even an entry on Barney at the Wikipedia Web site, the online, unofficial encyclapedia. I've been down several branches of memory lane, via the Internet, reading about Barney and his antics. I was reminded of the episode where Barney tried reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. We the pee...pul; We the pee-pul! I think he went through the entire Preamble without remembering a word of it. And, he was allowed only one bullet to keep in his pocket because he had so many accidental shootings. Other sayings that entertained us: Well, it's a whim, he said to Sheriff Andy. Are you going to question a whim? You question a whim and you take the fun right out of it! Well, today's eight-year-olds are tomorrow's teenagers. I say this calls for action and now. Nip it in the bud. First sign of youngsters going wrong, you've got to nip it in the bud. Oh, you're just full of fun today, aren't you? Why don't we go up to the old people's home and wax the steps? All I'm saying is that there are some things beyond the ken of mortal man that shouldn't be tampered with. We don't know everything, Andy. There's plenty going on right now in the Twilight Zone that we don't know anything about and I think we ought to stay clear. I agree with Bro. Jimmy. Barney Fife was a philosopher. written by Joyce Milson Vivian Jenkins www.youravon.com/vivianjenkins I firmly believe that in every situation, no matter how difficult, God extends grace greater than the hardship, and strength and peace of mind that can lead us to a place higher than where we were before. -Andy Griffith ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Aaron Ruben
volunteer of the year by the Los Angeles Child Advocate's Office and established the Aaron Ruben Scholarship Fund. Ruben, who was born March 1, 1914, attributed his longevity to his work with children. I have this fantasy, he told Daily Variety in 2003, that once a year St. Peter appears before God and they go over the list of people that they're ready to take and my name comes up. God says, 'Is he still doing that work with the kids? Ah, let him stick around a little longer.' Ruben was divorced from his first wife, Sandy, with whom he had two sons, Andy and Tom. He is survived by his wife Maureen; his sons; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. last request
Hey to everyone! My last request episode (s) is tied in my brain, Opie and the Bully because of the scene where Andy picks up Opie, who looks so small and innocent, and Opie's Charity because I love the skit about Horatio. About outtakes: I WISH! But as far as I can find, there are none. On a site I asked about it, it stated that there were none. So sad, but who needs more humor, we have years of it! I enjoy all of your postings and I live in Lexington KY and would love to come to Danville IN. I'm putting it on my list of things to do. So count me in for two! Allan, you do a wonderful job with the bulletin board and your podcasts are the cats! h.could you beFloyd the Gay Deceiver??? OUR Andy........
Nice article...thought you all might enjoy it. I did. Vivian in Lexington KY She says ... Andy Griffith will always be what he always was — funny Rate it - 40 views- Add comment By Annelore Harrell She says ... In 1953, when George William was in law school at the University of Georgia, we went to a football game one beautiful fall afternoon. I think that our Georgia Bulldogs played Alabama’s Crimson Tide that day, but for the life of me I couldn’t tell you who won. I do remember as clear as can be the young man who was part of the halftime show. His name was Andy Griffith and he had me laughing so hard I got a stitch in my side. He talked about coming to a football game and his rendition in a totally ridiculous country accent of “What it was was football” has become a classic comedic monologue. All we knew on that football Saturday was that he was one funny man. From the very beginning when he talks about getting two hot dogs and a big orange to his description of convicts coming onto the cow pasture blowing whistles to pretty girls wearing short skirts dancing around and bunches of men fighting and carrying on, we laughed. His conclusion of what he had seen or as he put it, “He studied about it,” was that it was some kind of a contest where they try to see which bunch can take that funnyshaped pumpkin from one end of the cow pasture to the other without getting knocked down or stepping in something. Andy Griffith’s talent and humor has carried well through the years. Remember how he told about the tale of Romeo and Juliet, which he said was more like a story about two daddies who didn’t get along and his interpretation of the ballet Swan Lake with his fresh look at what the dancers on stage are doing and how they are dressed. That can bring a smile to the most committed of ballet devotees. For years, we have watched Griffith on television as Matlock and as Andy Taylor of Mayberry. His movies have not been as numerous as his appearances on TV and we looked forward to his latest film “Play the Game.” As a lonely widower, Griffith, with the encouragement and under the direct supervision of his grandson, begins to search for someone to be his companion and finds more than he expects as he uses his grandson’s techniques for attracting the opposite sex. But the shoe is on the other foot as the grandson begins to realize that he has much to learn from his naive but open-hearted grandfather. “Play the Game” might deal with some serious facts of life, but always with a sense of humor that had the audience laughing out loud, a movie that has no smutty language and leaves much to the imagination — which even at my age is thankfully and comfortably vivid. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
