I watched part of a delightful film this afternoon titled Glory, about horse racing. Howard McNear's predecessor appeared as an investor in the title horse and little Margaret O'Brien, all grown up, was the star. Today I watched part of an old Jerry Lewis film called Ladies Man and one of the sound technicians was portrayed by Mayberry's mailman; I believe his name was Doodles Weaver? Let me wish everyone a wonderful Independence Day celebration next week; wouldn't it be great to be in Mayberry listening to the town band play patriotic music in the bandstand (spiders and all!)? I was watching an episode of the King Of Queens the other day when a lady that Arthur (Jerry Stiller's character) was with started to look very familiar. My wife said I was wrong, but I was bound to find out. Sure enough, when the credits rolled, it was Arlene Golonka (our own Millie Hutchins). Many of you may already know this information since the episode originally aired in 2005, but it was the first time I had seen it. Wow, she really looked different, but still a great actress. Today's episode of _The Beverly Hillbillies_ has Cousin Pearl practicing her singing. Every time she sets to yodeling, Ellie Mae's dogs come barging into the parlor and start to howling by jumping on her. Pearl had enough of that wanted to get rid of the dogs. Jed showed her each dog one by one so she could decide which one was vicious. Each one was cuter than the next so of course none were vicious. Well, I'd swear one of them was the little trembly one Opie brought home in Dogs Dogs Dogs Nice to know he had a career in more than one TV show. I watched The High and Mighty this afternoon and believe I spotted that bum with the bad leg. He was checking Henry Bennett (the jinx) onto an airplane flight and was barely recognizable. What a treat to spot Miss Ellie in a ballet film this evening titled The Unfinished Dance. She must've been about 6 and was adorable and a lovely dancer. The story line was quite disturbing, wherein the other child ruined a prima ballerina's career but it ended well and had many lovely scenes of dancing, including our lady druggist. She was billed as Mary Eleanor Donihue, I believe (the credits rolled past quickly).
