"I know I posted about Perry Mason just yesterday, but this was too good to let go by. On this morning's (Thursday) MeTV Perry Mason, the title was "The Case of The Shoplifter's Shoe". It was about an elderly woman who was a shoplifter. I'll give to one guess who played the shoplifter. You are correct, it was Lurene Tuttle, the same woman who was a shoplifter on TAGS just a year after this Perry Mason episode. Talk about typecasting." Did she clank? Also today on MeTV I saw Elizabeth MacRae (Lou Ann Poovie) as Festus's girl on Gunsmoke and Alan Hale (Jeff Pruitt) as a convict on Wanted Dead Or Alive. On Cozi TV, Dragnet had Sam Edwards (Sam Muggins/Lester Scobey) and Robert Cornthwaite (inspector from Dogs, Dogs, Dogs). Adam-12 had Lurene Tuttle (Annabelle Silby/little old lady who clanked) as someone playing her records too loud. 1. Two are very familiar, the others were not so familiar, but it still counts if you remember them. I noticed Chubby Johnson (Mr. Carter), Hank Patterson (Hobo, "If I Had a Quarter Million Dollars"), Phil Arnold (Hot Dog vendor in "A Black Day for Mayberry"), William "Bill" Challee (usually a checker player or loafer at Floyd's), Emory Parnell (Uncle Edward, "Dinner at Eight"), And most notable, Pluto ("Barney's Bloodhound" as "Blue", plus "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs", "Jailbreak", and "A Man's Best Friend"). I don't recall it ever being mentioned here (surely it has been), but Howard McNear had a recurring role on the Burns and Allen show as Mr. Jansen, the plumber. He played a very Floyd-like character. Another British twist to an alumnus sighting - Lester Scobey as a British bellhop at the hotel where the Ricardo’s and the Mertzes stay in London in the “I Love Lucy” episode. As a side note, Family Affair is on every Sunday afternoon on a local Chicago cable channel. Dan, I wondered if anyone else had seen that. Apparently you and I were watching the same movie at the same time! Later that evening on AMC The Day the Earth Stood Still was on (fantastic movie!) and our own Aunt Bee and, in an uncredited roll as Mr. Krull, was our own choirmaster, John Masters (Olan Soule). Mr Soule had one of those great voices that really turned my head.
