Right after I saw the mention of the death of Janet Waldo on yesterday's post, I noticed the passing of another TAGS alumni today. Ann Morgan Guilbert, who played Ella the newspaper reporter for the Mayberry Gazette in the episode about Cousin Bradford Taylor passed away today. She was also a regular on The New Andy Griffith Show for the one year it was on, but of course she is best known for being Millie Harper on The Dick Van Dyke Show.I really enjoyed her acting, she was always so effervesant and bubbly. Jewell Alicia Mitchell Kutzer passed away unexpectedly on 9-7-13 in St. Augustine, FL. Born on 1-4-36 in Mt. Airy she was raised by her mother Annie Mary Mabel Creed Mitchell, Grandfather Judge Anderson Edward Creed and Grandmother Ellen Creed. She spent many summers with her beloved Aunt Bea (Thelma Virginia Creed Miller) and Uncle Bill in Texas and Florida. She also became an author of 2 books-Memories of Mayberry and Mayberry Momma’s Food for the Soul and Body, and often performed as “The Mayberry Momma”, giving her own twist on down-home country wisdom as a motivational humorist. Jewell was a dynamic and engaging speaker, a loving mother and true friend to everyone she met. RALEIGH, N.C. — The death certificate for Andy Griffith says the actor’s death earlier this week was caused by a heart attack. The certificate says the 86-year-old had suffered the attack 24 hours before he died at 7 a.m. Tuesday. It also says he had suffered for years from other illnesses, including coronary artery disease, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, which can be a form of high cholesterol or high triglycerides. Griffith’s death certificate was filed Thursday with the vital records office in Dare County. It says he’s buried in the Griffith Family Cemetery in Manteo. Dr. Johnny Farrow of Manteo signed the certificate. Griffith was best known for playing Sheriff Andy Taylor in “The Andy Griffith Show,” which aired from 1960 to 1968. Jack Smith died on July 3 of leukemia. He played the T.V. announcer when Aunt Bee won the prizes on the game show episode 165. Also in this episode Amzie Strickland played Myra Tucker, she was jealous of Aunt Bee and her prizes. He also played on Happy Days when Fonzie jumps some cars in Arnold's parking lot.
