If not, why not just ask the user: We have detected that you are

[libreoffice-website] Proposal for better exposure for developer interviews

2010-12-10 Thread Cor Nouws

Hi all,

There are some wonderful interviews going on, that show up on the
official TDF blog.
They are important stories, cause they show how and why new, independent
developers join making LibreOffice. And what they do and like and such.
Of course hackers are just member of the community, and would be nothing
(hmm) with the rest of the community, but hey, what would we all be
without developers ;-)
Hmm, long story to explain that IMHO these interviews deserve a much
better exposure than 'just' the blog.

Therefore my proposal:

1 - At the page http://www.documentfoundation.org/develop/
right under the header 'Get Involved Developing LibreOffice':

a
href=http://blog.documentfoundation.org/category/developerinterview/;
target=_blankRead why people join LibreOffice-development/a

NOTE: that the category does not yet exist ;-)

(I also thought about a link at the home page, but maybe that is too
much. I just mention it for consideration:)

2 - just below the header 'Want to meet us?':

h3Why people develop for LibreOffice/h3

pRead the a
href=http://blog.documentfoundation.org/category/developerinterview/;
target=_blankinterviews/a with new developers on our blog./p

(If someone helps me with access and tells where to find, I will do the
changes at the site myself.)

Regards,

Cor

(PS when others are not faster them me, I'll look at the new site
designs too, to give this a place.)

Therefore my proposal:

I'd like to see them supported / exploited by our marketing team to show
the world about the broad support among developers as well as showing
more developers the way to our community

PS: I don't have the time to do anything about this topic, but perhaps
someone else (with more time...) shares my opinion...

One idea I've already submitted to Christian is for the home page
(front page) of the LibreOffice site to include a box with an RSS feed
from the blog, featuring the Title and the first 5 or 6 lines of the
most recent blog posts.

It's early Saturday where I am, and I have put aside my weekend to
fill the staging site with content. I'll be looking at your idea,
because it's a very good one.

I really like the new download script.

Would it be possible to display the file size in front of each file?

[libreoffice-website] TODO #1 Fix SilverStripe site footer

2010-12-10 Thread David Nelson
Hi Christian, :-)

IMHO, the footer of the test.libreoffice.org site needs a revised text
(see below), and the 2 links above the main block need to be merged
into the main block, to make 1 single block. IMHO, the text would be
better formatted in ITALICS. See bottom of screenshot below [1].

Suggested code snippet:

a href=/privacyPrivacy Policy/a | a href=/imprintImprint/a
| Copyright information: Unless otherwise specified, all text and
images on a
href=http://www.documentfoundation.org/;documentfoundation.org/a
and libreoffice.org are licensed under the a rel=license
href=http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/;Creative Commons
Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License/a. However, that does not
include the LibreOffice name, logo, or icon. Also, it does not include
the source code of LibreOffice, which is licensed under the GNU Lesser
General Public License (a href=/lgplLGPLv3/a).

[libreoffice-website] TODO #3 SilverStripe site Downloads page fixes

2010-12-10 Thread David Nelson
Hi Christian, :-)

IMHO, the Downloads page would need a few last fixes to make it perfect:

1) Eliminate gap between 2 list items
2) Change the words Full installer to full installer (eliminate
capitalization)
3) Make the entire unordered list ul-libreoffice class, i.e. ul
class=ul-libreoffice
4) Eliminate un-needed list item at bottom.

For illustration, see screenshot [1].

[libreoffice-website] TODO #4 SilverStripe site left side menu title capitalization fix

2010-12-10 Thread David Nelson
Hi Christian, :-)

Last suggestion for fix to left side menu side:

Menu title needs to be capitalized through addition of this style to
the style sheet:

div.sidebarBox h3 { text-transform:capitalize }

Can we change the word Imprint to something like Legals. Imprint has
no direct relevance to the page content in English.

[libreoffice-website] Download page

2010-12-10 Thread Danishka Navin
Hi,

It would be better if we can set the dropdown menu for 'locales' in
alphabetical order.
en-US should be in the default value but once click on the drop-down it
should list all locales in an order.

[libreoffice-website] FAQ Tab

2010-12-10 Thread Sophie Gautier

Hi all,

Could you please bring the FAQ Tab back on the EN site because we have
it in our l10n files :

There is a string called Also check the FAQ section at a href=\
http://www.libreoffice.org/faq/\;http://www.libreoffice.org/faq/./a.

So it will be localized and directed to the l10n site, but it would be
great to have a fallback if it's not and the en_US version should have
its link available also.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards
Sophie

There will be a FAQ but not top level, there's no space. FAQ will be a
sub-page, it would be better if you change your links, sorry... :-(

Link is in .sdf file, readme file is build during the building process,
so it won't work for 3.3.
