[Bug 18474] New: Moving ku-arab content to ckb

2009-04-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18474

Summary: Moving ku-arab content to ckb
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.15-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Internationalization
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: gerard.meijs...@gmail.com

Hoi,
The localisation in ku-arab is done for the Sorani language. Sorani (iso 639-3
ckb) is written primarily in the Arabic script. The Kurmanji language (kmr) is
effectively what is left in the ku.wikipedia. The naming of this project is
unfortunate because there are two more languages that make part of this macro
language. This can however not be helped.

The Kurmanji language is written both in Arabic and Latin and therefore the
conversion from Latin to Arabic is still valid. When the ku-arab localisation
data has been moved, there is no ku-arab localisation left. This may fall back
to ckb.

The Sorani language is called کوردی in Sorani (actually Kurdi.. they do
not call it Sorani themselves).

Sorani is eligible for a new project as per the language committee.
Thanks,
 GerardM

If Formatnum is intended for interface messages, then it *must* handle
localised formatting. Otherwise it is pointless.

See URL above with autoconfirmed but not sysop user:
the field Filter ID is missing.

The issue is with this code in SpecialAbuseLog.php:
 if ($this-canSeeDetails())
   $this-mSearchFilter = $wgRequest-getIntOrNull( 'wpSearchFilter' );

Which means that users without abusefilter-log-detail right also cannot filter
the AbuseLog by specific filter, which doesn't seem to make sense.

[Bug 18478] New: Time-dependent conditionals (#ifeq, #switch, etc.) can leave link tables inconsistent

2009-04-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18478

   Summary: Time-dependent conditionals (#ifeq, #switch, etc.) can
leave link tables inconsistent
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
   URL: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:V
illage_pumpoldid=20274720#Cascading_protection_broken.3
F
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: Normal
 Component: ParserFunctions
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: nos...@vyznev.net

By using the conditional parser functions #ifeq, #ifexpr or #switch together
with #time (or with time-dependent magic words such as CURRENTDAY), a page can
be made to parse and render differently at different times. However, the link
tables (pagelinks, imagelinks, templatelinks and categorylinks) will only
contain links that were present when the page was parsed.

This is closely related to bug 14404, but I'm filing this separately since the
proximate cause is different, and since I suspect they'll need separate fixes.

I particular, this can cause cascading protection to fail unexpectedly if such
time-dependent conditionals are used on the protected page. Of course, the
workaround is to just not do that, but not all users may know that. (And,
unfortunately, many of the pages most likely to need cascading protection are
also the ones most likely to benefit from time-dependent parsing.)

(In reply to comment #5)
You have changed the description to describe a different problem than what I'm
reporting. I concern is LOCAL images on the English Wikipedia that should be
automatically protected by cascading protection while on the main page but are
not being protected. Admins like myself are having to manually protect them so
that they don't get vandalized. Protecting images on the Commons shared image
repository protection is NOT the issue that I'm bringing up. That's a separate
problem that would be a helpful improvement, but it's beyond the scope of the
bug that I've brought up. Cascading protection worked back in January, I don't
know what changed so that it doesn't work anymore.

That's what I'm telling you, though. Local cascading protection *is* working,
and I haven't seen a scrap of evidence to the contrary.

See
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Example.jpgaction=edit, an
image that is clearly protected by cascading protection. See also these images
on the main page, which are protected using cascading protection and it's
working (but two of which have not been reuploaded to English Wikipedia, and
are therefore vulnerable to vandalism:
