With 'project' I was referring to the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject WikiProject] namespace. But, after I had a look at our wiki, the use of Wikipedija is still good. So, there's no need for any transaction to be made. Now, how can I restore back the pages that were on the 'Portal' namespace before the latter was transformed into a namespace. I was trying to use the 'Broken/' syntax before the page title but nothing worked. Examples of portal pages on this wiki were http://mt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Sport and http://mt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Matematika. Can you tell me what can I do? The last question is for the last part of my first claim. The first transaction of namespaces that was done (bug #16373), the Wikipedija_talk was supposed to be translated into Diskussjoni_Wikipedija, but it was translated into Wikipedija_diskussjoni which is in the wrong format. If someone looks for an Arabic script page that does not exist (for instance مارکس ) there will be an automatic redirection to the ROman script page with the same name (in this case: Marks). The same thing happens in the article search, where the search for the Arabic script page name returns the Roman script pagename. This does NOT happen when doing a fulltext search. That way a current oversighter can review the data, select which components need to be hidden, and that it is appropriate to restore it at all (IIRC FT2 has indicated somewhere else that there may be occasions where the aspect that needs oversighting was the fact that the edit happened at all). Doing this en masse with a script seems dangerous to me. How large are the oversight tables on WMF? Is it feasible to do these restorations manually? Translations should be translations, not customisations. In the future we may support custom fallback languages per user. My intention was more to get the site fallbacks and not user specific fallbacks because as mentioned above i would like to have the information for choosing the language for edit summary (e.g. my bot has no als template but its better to use de instead of the en one) and not for displaying customized messages to me. If the individual lang is zh this would end up in bad summary results on als projects. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18207 Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||br...@wikimedia.org --- Comment #5 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2009-04-30 21:12:21 UTC --- Taking a peek patch doesn't look quite sufficient. In addition to IRC there may be other protocols which may match with the same styling issues. There's also an entry which looks like it's attempting to entirely turn off the styling icons for interwikis: /* disable interwiki styling */ #bodyContent a.extiw, #bodyContent a.extiw:active { color: #36b; background: none; padding: 0; } It looks like the CSS override order rules are leaving at least the IRC link matching anyway on normal view (perhaps because of the explicit #bodyContent a.extiw[href ^=irc://] rule), while when it's being clicked the #bodyContent a.extiw:active selector takes over and the padding and icon can be seen to disappear. Perhaps removing that #bodyContent a.extiw[href ^=irc://] selector would do the job better? [Bug 18616] Local evaluation of magic words for commons files
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18616 ^demon innocentkil...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||innocentkil...@gmail.com Component|Language setup |File/Repo Product|Wikimedia |MediaWiki --- Comment #2 from ^demon innocentkil...@gmail.com 2009-04-30 23:22:12 UTC --- In general, when fetching remote content we prefer to have it render before fetching. There's no guarantee that the local wiki knows how to handle all of the magic words that the foreign one does. This can end up with poorly-rendered content. (In reply to comment #0) So it would be very helpful for readers to only show the description in the local language, using {{CONTENTLANGUAGE}} (one may even give the option to show other languages if desired). So this magic word would be evaluated locally. For other magic words, I imagine there may be reasons not to do it, we may ask at commons about that. FWIW, we should already be doing this. I added fetching remote descriptions with uselang back in r46369...which btw, is a big hack for commons mostly, and should be replaced with a more defined interface for fetching descriptions, rather than hoping action=render gives us what we want. Repurposing as a FileRepo bug, because it has nothing to do with language setup @ Wikimedia, nor is it really an i18n issue at all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18638 Summary: Update fixUserRegistration.php to use newuserlog (where available, prior to r12207), and gaussian estimates for the fossils Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.15-svn Platform: All URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Logdi r=prevtype=newusers OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Maintenance scripts AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: h...@goldrush.com User's created before r12207 who have no edits until after r12207 are not assigned guessed data for user.user_registration. This is not critical but often is very confusing and sometimes wildly inaccurate. There are several months worth of data on Wikimedia wikis in the new user log from the extension (see r10573 ) that could populate this data. Also, for users prior to even the extension, a gaussian curve could be plotted from the data of available edits and log entries (all of which would be after the creation date) and normalized to a curve or wave of user creation date/ID.
