[Bug 21052] New: stub link color not changed to dark red in NewPages

2009-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21052

 Summary: stub link color not changed to dark red in NewPages
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: 1.16
 Platform: PC
 URL: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:NewPages
OS/Version: Windows Vista
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Normal
Component: User interface
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: pennstation...@gmail.com

Environment: Japanese Wikipedia site http://ja.wikipedia.org/

When I set Threshold for stub link to, for example, 1B in My
preference, I can get links to
articles which size is less than 1B (stub links) in color dark red in
normal article pages.
However, the feature does NOT work in special:NewPages
(http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:NewPages)
i.e. no stub links are changed to the color (dark red).
This had surely worked fine by the week of September 4th, 2009, but now
doesn't.

The same symptom is seen also at Special:Recent changes and watchlist
(Special:My watchlist),
but they have not been changed even from before the week of September 4th,
2009. i.e. the feature
has never worked in those 2 pages.

I would just like to ask why I cannot get stub links in color dard red in
special:NewPages?
It is very valuable feature for me to identify article size in the page
NewPages.
Since it had worked fine before, is it a bug?

Regards,
Penn Station

Created an attachment (id=6649)
-- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6649)
sets width of the cols to 50%

The problem is that there are two tables: the actual diff table and the
FlaggedRev’s table above. The width of the FR table is 100% and the width of
their columns is 50%. The width of the diff table is fixed to (100%), too, but
the width of their columns is not fixed. So if the columns have a different
width, this bug occurs.

So in this proposed patch, I added width:50%; to the columns.

You can easily reproduce this on en.wikipedia, (e.g
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rumson,_New_Jerseyaction=historysubmitdiff=317019545oldid=317003264)
so I don't think this has something to do with FlaggedRevs.

My guess is that the colspan=4 attribute of the multi diff notice is causing
this.

Honestly, I think it's better to fix the layout than trying to override it with
some css styles. The multi diff notice has a colspan of 4 whereas the rest of
the table has only two columns.

Ok. Would it bee all right to show the four cols everytime and add a
colspan=2 to the header tds? This would fix the problem, too.

Apparently it had been this way until r49688, where it was changed to fix bug
18538. So better change the colspan of the multi diff notice to 2 if no diff is
shown.

The reason is outlined in bug 371 and r18502.

The rationale behind it is that if a user can't view images, providing a link

Mark, do we know whether Squid normalizes percent-encoded chars vs raw chars in
URLs when determining canonical URLs for caching?

MediaWiki redirects you to the canonical URL for not-quite-canonical page view
URLs in order to ensure consistent caching, but I have the vaguest recollection
that our detection is post-percent decoding so we're not necessarily doing that
right already.

If Squid would be caching them separately, then we might need to fix that up in
MediaWiki to be more aggressive about the redirecting.

I've just had a look at the code, and it seems that Squid does not do
canonizing of URLs w.r.t. percent-decoding. There is a function
url_decode_hex() in url.c which supports this, but it's only used for Gopher
(yay ;). I strongly suspect that it's caching them seperately, so indeed
MediaWiki may need to be adapted for that.

Hello dear dev,

I think the Commons communety has reached a consensus and I would like to ask
the developers to enable the patroller right on Commons, this right should be
given upon request to a administrator so a administrator should be able to give
this right but also be able to remove it.

The vote was here:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#Enable_patroller_permissions

Best regards,

I'm not sure how redirecting could fix this, unless you want to redirect all
URLs without percent-encoding to URLs with percent-encoding, which seems ugly?
Technically both URLs are exactly the same, so in my opinion this shall be
fixed in squid.

The problem seems to be the missing title= attribute in the URL.

[Bug 21061] New: Add uploaded file text and metadata from files to fulltext search set

2009-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified

OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: enhancement
 Priority: Normal
Component: Search
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: br...@wikimedia.org
Blocks: 6421,6422,13370

We're starting to integrate text extraction for djvu and pdf files -- currently
used for ProofreadPage extension -- but it's not currently exposed to the
search indexing.

This is also something frequently desired for text document types like .doc and
.odf, and there are some extensions for doing that but there's not a clean
interface to plug it in to that can be supported for all search backends.

Note that supporting the Lucene search which updates separately might require
some additional attention.

Related bugs:
* bug 6421 - search djvu file text
* bug 6422 - search pdf file text
* bug 13370 - search file metadata

Also interesting idea:
* bug 18045 - search text of linked files (but if these are remote, that's much
harder to handle!)

Things we need:
* clear interface on File for things that need to be fetched (exif metadata,
page text)
* clear interface on the SearchEngine class for plugging additional info in to
updates
* a way to expose additional searchable info to the Lucene search's updaters
(plugin to oai interface maybe to toss in extra data fields?)

AssignedTo: rain...@eunet.rs

For more advanced search features related to uploaded files (bug 21061) and
other potential extensions and such, we need to have a clean interface to
expose additional text and data fields to the Lucene search indexer.

This can be handled internally on the SearchEngine class and friends for the
default MySQL search and friends since they're doing updates at save time
within the search classes, but the Lucene system is indexing externally via
dumps or OAI-PMH update pulls. We need to make sure we have a clean way to
expose additional file text or metadata fields that we want indexed so we can
roll these capabilities out to Wikimedia sites in the future.

Ok, there needs to be the following groups:

patroller = autopatrol, patrol
autopatrolled = autopatrol

Both of these groups can be added or removed to users by sysops.

[Bug 21063] New: Upload api exception when using upload by url

2009-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21063

 Summary: Upload api exception when using upload by url
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: 1.16-svn
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Normal
Component: Uploading
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: maar...@mdammers.nl

At test wiki I'm playing around with the upload api.
Test wiki is running 1.16alpha-wmf (r57490) at the moment.
First I tried using upload by url through the normal upload interface. That
works just fine. Now I'm trying to use upload by url in the api to upload some
files, but I get an internal_api_error_MWException

I run the following piece of python code:

def api_upload_image(self, debug=False):

Use the upload api to upload the image

#Hacking around to see how the upload api works

#First get an edit token
params1 = {
'action': 'query',
'prop' : 'info',
'intoken' : 'edit',
'titles': self.useFilename
}

data1 = query.GetData(params1, self.targetSite, useAPI = True,
encodeTitle = False)
token = data1[u'query'][u'pages']['-1'][u'edittoken']
print token

#token = self.targetSite.getToken()

#Should do some filename checking

#Post all the data to upload the file
params2 = {
'action': 'upload',
'filename' : self.useFilename,
'comment' : self.description,
#'token' : 'bladiebla',
'token' : token,
#'watch': '0'
#'ignorewarnings' :
#'file' : file contents
#'enablechunks'
#'chunksessionkey',
#'chunk'
#'done'
'url' : self.url,
'asyncdownload' : 0,
#'httpstatus'
#'sessionkey'
}
print params2
data2 = query.GetData(params2, self.targetSite, useAPI = True,
encodeTitle = False)

print data2

session_key = data2[u'upload']['upload_session_key']

#See the status of the upload

params3 = {
'action': 'upload',
#'filename' : self.useFilename,
#'comment' : self.description,
'token' : token,
#'watch': '0'
#'ignorewarnings' :
#'file' : file contents
#'enablechunks'
#'chunksessionkey',
#'chunk'
#'done'
#'url' : self.url,
#'httpstatus'
'sessionkey': session_key
}

data3 = query.GetData(params3, self.targetSite, useAPI = True,
encodeTitle = False)
print data3

The output:

(In reply to comment #4)
I just checked for Meta, and it seems to have no effect there either. I doubt
this should still be in Site requests as there seems to be a real bug with
this
feature (though adding things to the global robots.txt until it's fixed will
be
a workaround, I think).

http://es.wikipedia.org/robots.txt does work (look at the bottom)
Is it only working for wikipedias?

[Bug 20858] Special:Allmessages to allow filtering on name+contents, not just prefix

Searching the content is a frequent use case.
To find a message name, in the old system you went to Special:Allmessages and
used your browser search.
Now you have to go to Special:Allmessages, change the combobox to All, wait to
reload the big page, search there, go to the next page... having a useless
prefix search at the top.

Having the backend perform the search would be much more efficient.

__NOINDEX__ shouldn't be added to the category page because that causes a loop
at the cattree (itself is shown a subcat) and having an indexed site containing
noindexed sites isn't a great idea.
To solve the problem the category must be noindex by default, so that there is
not need to add __NOINDEX__ , or prevent itself being added to the category.

[Bug 21065] New: Format complete checkbox items using class parameter

2009-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21065

 Summary: Format complete checkbox items using class parameter
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: enhancement
 Priority: Normal
Component: SemanticForms
AssignedTo: yaro...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: jack.p...@psitex.com
CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

The class parameter in the field tag for type=checklist applies only to the
input . . ./ tag, or the check box itself. As written, the span
class=checkboxSpan actually determines the formatting of the whole
selection. Would it be better if the class parameter applied to the entire
span rather than only to the input . . ./ tag?

This would allow the custom formatting of each checklist field by allowing a
class to be specified rather than the entire wiki by modifying the
span.checkbox css style.

One example of this modification would be to allow a vertical checkbox list
when needed (rather than defaulting the entire wiki to vertical checkboxes)

Example:

{}

When coupled with a corresponding class in MediaWiki:Common.css such as
pre
/* 6. SW Forms - custom formatting */
span.checkboxSpanVertical {display:block;}
/pre

I don't think the intention of the class was to format only the actual checkbox
(without formatting the text), this just corrects the problem.
