[Bug 23549] SMW::getUnusedPropertySubjects causes MySQL error 1044
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23549 Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||INVALID --- Comment #2 from Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org 2010-05-23 10:50:10 UTC --- Regarding Special:Unusedproperties, this issue is probably due to the operation trying to create temporary tables for which your default user may not have sufficient rights. This can also happen in SMW queries if category or property hierarchies are taken into account. To see the SQL query that causes the issue, you can set $wgShowSQLErrors = true; $wgDebugDumpSql = true; in your LocalSettings (see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:How_to_debug for more help on gathering error information from MediaWiki). If the query is CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE ... you need to provide this right to your DB user, or chose to disable the respective functions. This relates to two kinds of SMW features: * The special page unused properties. To disable it completely, you currently need to edit SMW by commenting out the following lines: $wgAutoloadClasses['SMWSpecialUnusedProperties'] = $smwgIP . 'specials/QueryPages/SMW_SpecialUnusedProperties.php'; $wgSpecialPages['UnusedProperties'] = array( 'SMWSpecialUnusedProperties' ); $wgSpecialPageGroups['UnusedProperties']= 'maintenance'; In your current version, these lines should be found in ./includes/SMW_GlobalFunctions.php. From SMW 1.5.1 on, these lines will be in a new file called ./includes/SMW_Setup.php. * Category and property hierarchies in SMW queries. To disable the use of such hierarchies in SMW, add the following to your LocalSettings: $smwgQSubcategoryDepth = 0; $smwgQSubpropertyDepth = 0; I am confident that this fixes your problems with SMW (feel free to re-open this bug if not). The other special page you mention does not belong to SMW. Please file a separate bug for the respective extension if the problem persists. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Please have a look at http://sandbox.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Property:Submission_deadline for an example query where one entry has two dates. Of course, when you have more than one date per page, the page can still be sorted by only one of them. Which one this is is not defined by SMW or SQL, so you cannot expect a deterministic result in such cases. The page will appear in only one of the positions that its various dates indicate. This is why it is not suggested to sort by a property value that is set many times for single pages; but this is not specific to Type:Date. Another possible reason for sorting problems in an upgrade is that some internal format change has occurred that was not applied yet to your DB. In this case, pages that are stored again should sort properly. Updating all pages can be effected by using the Repair button in Special:SMWAdmin. I close this bug as WORKSFORME. [Bug 23297] Getting SMW::on in query result set when used in Mediwiki:Sidebar
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23297 Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||WONTFIX Severity|major |minor --- Comment #1 from Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org 2010-05-23 18:13:34 UTC --- SMW::on is an internal pseudo-annotation that SMW uses to avoid semantic markup in templates being interpreted when using templates in queries. The problem here is that MediaWiki does not interpret link syntax ... in MediaWiki:Sidebar. Now on the other hand, this is not really a problem: the parsing of complex markup in such heavily used locations is disabled on purpose. I am even surprised that parser functions and templates are allowed there. Your problem thus is simply due to an unexpected use of SMW in a context it is not made for. You will find that many #ask formats, and many other parser functions do not work properly in MediaWiki:Sidebar. This is a consequence of some design choices in MediaWiki, and not a bug as such. It simply was intentionally disabled. Since this use of MW or SMW is not intended, it is likely to cause unforeseen problems or to break in future versions, even if worked around for now. But if you *really* want to do this, the following works: * Create a new Type:String property, say sidebar item. * For each page that should appear in the sidebar, assign the value * Pagename|Sectionname to this property. Due to the | symbol, this cannot be done with the :: syntax. Instead, use #set like this: where the Template:! is the usual | template like on Wikipedia. This assignment could be accomplished via some template. * Then modify your MediaWiki:Sidebar to contain something like this: * Some section name ** help|A fixed help link ** Test|Some other fixed link This works for me on MW 1.17alpha (r63248), SMW (r66801). Let me repeat: this is a gross hack that is likely to cause trouble of various kinds. If it works properly, any editor of your site gains the ability to modify the sidebar in arbitrary ways (to the extent that editing MediaWiki:Sidebar would allow it). It is also not clear how the use of queries in messages affects performance or how it interacts with in-memory caches used for messages. This is all that I can do for this feature request. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23556] calling a concept recursively results in page inaccessible
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23556 Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |ASSIGNED --- Comment #2 from Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org 2010-05-23 18:34:46 UTC --- Support for recursive concepts might be implementable, but is the topic of another feature request (Bug 15316). Regarding your problem, I do suspect that the issue is not actually the recursion. The concept description that you specify is simply invalid. The parser function #concept expects a query string that looks like the one used for #ask. So it would be . But concepts are not allowed on concept pages in SMW's normal configuration (since they are not supported there anyway). So what happens in either case is that SMW does not find a valid query condition and is left with a query without conditions. This query returns all pages, and may thus require more resources than your normal query (although only 200 results are actually displayed). This can cause the page becoming inaccessible if your server does not have enough memory for such large queries. To work around this, manually type ?action=edit after the page URL to change its contents again. I change the bug description accordingly, and we will still look at the error behaviour of concepts. It is not really useful to have queries for all pages, so maybe we will just catch this case on another level to avoid such problems being caused accidentally. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23639] New: Blank pages with a large number of djvu
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23639 Summary: Blank pages with a large number of djvu Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.17-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Normal Component: DjVu AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: platoni...@gmail.com Pages containing a large number of djvu thumbnails (or just large djvus?) result in blank pages. For example: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category%3AScanned_French_books_in_DjVu http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category%3ADictionnaire_de_Tr%C3%A9voux This issue is different than the one where the metadata update failed resulting in a blank page. None of the files in those categories result in a blank page when viewing its description. You can also reproduce it placing many djvu files from there in a gallery (works in smaller batches). See http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Platonides/Bug_23639action=history for examples that /usually/ work. Adding File:Dictionnaire de Trévoux, 1771, VIII.djvu to the gallery, it fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23593 --- Comment #3 from FT2 ft2.w...@gmail.com 2010-05-24 02:31:30 UTC --- Page history doesn't have explicit show/hide links. More generally a user with administrator access to the revision can normally click the date or revision field directly to view it. Disabling the link for admins doesn't do anything useful except force them to go via a different (intermediate RevDelete) page. As noted that intermediate page doesn't exist on page history. To view this revision ( http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Smile_Foundation_of_Balioldid=292742758unhide=1 ) I have to: * select the checkbox * scroll to top of page if a long history * click the revdelete button * the revdelete page is then shown, with the exact same text, this time it has the normal link which can be clicked to view the revision. Unclear what benefit this has. Can date-revision links be reinstated (with strikeout styling) as on almost all other pages, to allow a direct click to the revision in the usual place? https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23593 --- Comment #5 from FT2 ft2.w...@gmail.com 2010-05-24 03:09:47 UTC --- Yes - in diffs http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:FT2/test3diff=prevoldid=362875591 in deleted page history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Undelete/User:FT2/test4 in deleted contribs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:DeletedContributions/FT2 But mainly, there is no obvious reason why these links should not be clickable in current page history and contributions. And every reason why it would be useful. Non admins aren't able to view the deleted content, and admins get a considerable extra click-burden for every redacted revision, for no net gain. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Other that sp:undelete, where the user is already explicitly viewing deleted content. Currently, the idea is that user has to clearly use show/hide (links/buttons) to request deleted content now. If the the date is made into a link, the next obvious question would be how do you see the edit comment as quickly?. It would be useful to resolve that at the same time. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
