If a wiki needs something like that, they can alter the Cannot revert edit; last contributor is only author of this page. message to provide a link to deletion form. [Bug 18861] Search should index template expansion
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18861 Andrew Billinghurst billinghu...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||billinghu...@gmail.com Severity|enhancement |normal --- Comment #6 from Andrew Billinghurst billinghu...@gmail.com 2010-06-29 06:42:24 UTC --- Wikisource seems to have a similar issue relating to transcluded pages from the Page: namespace when transcluded into the main namespace. Wikisource has a PAGE: namespace where we undertake the editing of pages of works. These pages are then transcluded to the main namespace for presentation to readers. The issue is that when the indexing process takes place that the transcluded pages in the main namespace do not get indexed, only the pages in the Page: namespace, hence defeating the purposes of the work. Examples of the two searches http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Highways_and_Byways_in_Sussex contains the relevant pages http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=singletonprefix=Highways+and+Byways+in+Sussexfulltext=Search+in+this+workfulltext=Search http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=singletonprefix=Page%3AHighways+and+Byways+in+Sussexfulltext=Search+in+this+work+%28Page%3A+prefix%29fulltext=Search This is especially problematic as the default searches do not include the Page: namespace, and we wouldn't particularly want them to anyway. The impact is at two levels. * Base level searches do not find the relevant text is on site * Drill down searches per work do not function, this is especially problematic when one is working on reproducing large reference works, eg. 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 14128] Readers without Javascript see box always in expanded state
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14128 entli...@gmx-topmail.de changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED CC||entli...@gmx-topmail.de Resolution|WONTFIX | --- Comment #5 from entli...@gmx-topmail.de 2010-06-29 11:44:24 UTC --- I disagree with the resolution of this bug. Comment 1 is wrong. Content is overlapped even without local adaptions. The local adaptions in de:MediaWiki:Monobook.css just try to minimize the amount of overlapped content by moving the whole box upwards. They don't affect other skins at all, Vector now being the default skin. It would be trivial to achieve the collapse/expand effect without JavaScript. The Vector skin does this for the menu: div.vectorMenu div.menu { display: none; } div.vectorMenu:hover div.menu { display: block; } If #mw-fr-revisiondetails were in a way related to #mw-fr-revisiontoggle that can be selected with CSS (e.g. descendant or later sibling, but not parent or earlier sibling), we could just do the same, like: #mw-fr-revisiondetails { display: none; /* collapsed by default */ } #mw-fr-revisiontoggle:hover #mw-fr-revisiondetails { display: block; /* expand if hovered */ } This is impossible with the current document structure. Note however that ... * ... :hover does not work in IE 6. The JavaScript solution could be kept in place just for that browser; * ... de:MediaWiki:Common.css currently contains some adaptions that affect all skins (z-index: 1 and display: none on #mw-fr-revisiondetails to stack it in the foreground of relatively positioned templates and hide it from non-JavaScript users). Several edit boxes? Or one? If the latter, how software is supposed to deduce what should be placed where if user changes section names or reorders them? All questions you have placed are understandable. But unfortunately I can not answer all because I am not a developer, like you, then I can only advise you. I propose placing a checkbox next to the simple edit link of the section and also propose putting a link to edit the selected sections to the top, perhaps making the Edit button a drop down menu that includes all options to edit a page. As for the edit screen look I propose you to maintain the current editing window, but by all sections appear in the window previously selected to edit and save them all at the same time. [Bug 24180] New: [PATCH] Undefined behavior for #arramap on empty separator
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24180 Summary: [PATCH] Undefined behavior for #arramap on empty separator Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: Normal Component: SemanticForms AssignedTo: yaro...@gmail.com ReportedBy: cburg...@ira.uka.de CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org Created an attachment (id=7529) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7529) Patch solving the bug by implementing described solution Parser extension function #arraymap allows for the specification of a user defined separator. If an empty separator is passed with for example it is directly passed on to explode() which yields a warning on the resulting HTML page. While the current implementation doesn't offer a defined result for this case, I believe a meaning could be attached to it solving this issue. There is currently no way to apply #arraymap to a list of characters without a separator, e.g. for separating the digits in the example above. For this use case #arraymap should break around the empty space between the digits. This motivates my solution of using separator= to yield a list of single characters for a given string. The attached patch implements this behavior. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 24172] image insertion button only inserts the file name, but not size, thumb, alignment, caption
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24172 --- Comment #2 from Amir E. Aharoni amir.ahar...@mail.huji.ac.il 2010-06-29 20:09:06 UTC --- (In reply to comment #1) thumb always respect the defaults for LTR/RTL. There is no need for a additional right/left. Of course it does, but quite often people want to put them on the other side. The easiest way to do it is to put right or left in the automatically inserted text. When an editor will want to align to the other side, he'll be able to guess that he has to change that one word. Of course it's possible to rely on people to go to the Help pages, but simply putting right or left in the inserted string will make it easier. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 24182] New: Trimming or removing all whitespace from templates is useful
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24182 Summary: Trimming or removing all whitespace from templates is useful Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Templates AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: dan.bol...@gmail.com Created an attachment (id=7532) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7532) Diff between r68758 and my changes. When you have a template that just sets some configuration or inserts a div, for example, it is often nice to leave lots of whitespace in the wiki code for readability. However, this will often affect the layout of the calling page. Two new parser functions have been proposed to help deal with this issue (although there could be many different ways to deal with it). !-- Trim the whitespace from before and after the text returned by 'template' -- !-- Remove *all* the whitespace from within the text returned by 'template' -- Attached is a diff that adds these two parser functions to the cleverly named ParserFunctions extension. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
