It does not seem to work. Is there something wrong in our MediaWiki:WikiLove.js
or has it something to do with Liquid Threads perhaps?

It is probably not enabled for everyone by default.

There is a preference to enable WikiLove; this should have been turned to yes
for all users *EXCEPT* those who have opted out of experimental features;
this may not have happened.

[Bug 30597] section tag name collides with HTML 5 section tag

--- Comment #2 from Danny B. dann...@email.cz 2011-08-28 09:44:36 UTC ---
Actually, inspired by the documentation, I think sectioninclude or
includesection as complement to wikitext include tags seems to be even better
way than my original suggestion.

(In reply to comment #1)
Why do we care? Wikitext is not html.

But you can enable HTML tags. And section is quite important one.

 Bug #: 30601

   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: (wikimedia-deployment)
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

 Component: User preferences
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

Version: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Version

Go to http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#preftab-5 (watchlist
tab) and change Days to show in watchlist: to 10. Try Save.

The result will report There are problems with some of your input on the
first tab, but there is no problem on this tab. Carefully opening each tab may
find the problem (there is a max of 7 on the watchlist days), but this
behaviour is highly confusing. Either a hint about what the error may be should
be displayed on the first tab (including the tab name), or the tab opened
directly (difficult perhaps if more than one tab is affected).

--- Comment #12 from Derk-Jan Hartman hart...@videolan.org 2011-08-28

Lion works now, and Snow Leopard works icw Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 5.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1360;

Perhaps someone else can test Leopard with Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Upodate 10
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4592 ?

Is suspect this update finally upgrades the Java plugin to use the new live
connect API. As this mozilla bug documents:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=517355, the java plugin on Mac OS
X was rather out of date and didn't support the new Java 1.6 api yet. It might
be that this problem is now finally solved.

Seeking doesn't work, and it is still slow to load, because, well, loading the
JVM simply takes long no matter what, but after that, it's reasonably ok.

Looks good. I don't have a PRP setup ready, but I think this will work. Two
points:
* Use NS_FILE instead of NS_IMAGE

I disagree with the second point. Let's assume that I had created page

for that file until someone edits Page:Abc.png. Maybe the extension should
block creation of Page:Abc.png if corresponding file does not exist?

Adding tarball as blocking. Since it's deployed on WMF before release, it makes
sense that fixes for deployment block the release. Moreover since whatever WMF
setup does, other wikis might do as well.

Mailman 2.1.9 being vulnerable to various XSS attacks has been reported in OTRS

stable GNU Mailman version is 2.1.14, released on 20-Sep-2010, as also

[Bug 30603] New: Property name gets renamed

2011-08-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30603

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 30603
   Summary: Property name gets renamed
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Semantic MediaWiki
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: mediaw...@kghoffmeyer.de
CC: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com, mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org
Classification: Unclassified

I just realised that the name of a property gets renamed and is thus listed
as a wanted property after the entry of an invalid property value. The normal
behaviour would be to throw a message that the property value is not valid.
This happens if the property value starts with a colon, e.g. :0049 30
12345678 as a value for the property Ruf would result in a wanted property
Ruf: with the value 0049 30 12345678. Additionally the value gets displayed
like a property value of datatyp page though the defined datatype of the
property Ruf is telephone number. The same happens to datatype quantity and
temperature. I have recreated this at scratchy:
http://scratchpad.referata.com/wiki/Ruf

MW 1.17.0 and SMW 1.5.6 or SMW 1.6.1, probably happening to SMW 1.6.0 and SMW
1.5.6 though not tested.

This checkbox would be enabled by default. It results in the inclusion of
uploads of which the user is the first uploader. (of which the user is likely
the creator/finder).

Possible issues (technically):
* Not sure of a selection of the first uploader to a file is indexed. Assuming
it's not, is it effeciently indexable ?
* The first (public) uploader is variable. After a later version is uploaded,
an earlier version could be hidden or deleted to filearchive.

Possible issues (practically):
* Phrasing of this may imply that first/original uploader is the author. This
is not the case per se. We may not want to create this checkbox and instead
wait for File-metadata/license-information intergration project to be executed
at which point files can be listed truly by author id.

MediaWiki core development will unlikely implement all of this as a single
change since some are simple, others easy. Some might not be possible due to
technical limitations (such as I'm latest uploader). Also, wether all of
these changes are useful for core (and as such, all wikis including non-Commons
and non-Wikimedia wikis), is something to be considered.

I'm opening up separate requests for these changes and marking this one as
WONTFIX.

See:
* (bug 28074) Add support for transclusion to Special:NewFiles/username
* (bug 30604) Implement a gallery view for SpecialListFiles
* (bug 30605) Thumbnails on SpecialListFiles should not ignore height
* (bug 30606) Show summary of meta-data on SpecialListFiles
* (bug 30607) Add checkbox-filter to SpecialListFiles for showing original
uploads

The following don't have their own tickets yet as I'm not sure these are useful
in core
* Add checkbox-filter to SpecialListFiles for showing re-uploads
* Add checkbox-filter to SpecialListFiles for showing reverts
* Add checkbox-filter to SpecialListFiles for showing top contributions

Renaming bug to reflect the problem that Commons intended to be solved.

Use case:
* John uploads 3 files
* One of the files is fixed by a bot or modified by anyone (ie. rotated or
re-upload higher resolution from Flickr)
* John now sees only two files at Special:ListFiles/John, the one modified
later is gone!

The bug is caused by a technical problem, the fact that the File-information
databases are still using the 'current / old' table structure, rather than the
'revision' structure (see bug 26741, which requires a major major change to the
database schema)

Just like for Special:Contributions for listing page edits from
page/revision/text, files should show past uploads as well from
file/fileuploads.

One could argue though that ListFiles is the counter part of AllPages, as such
it shouldn't show old revisions, just the current files. If we decide that,
then I propose the following:
* SpecialContributions needs better support for files and a filter for
files/edits
* SpecialMyUploads should NOT link to SpecialListFiles.

Short: SpecialMyUploads does not show all uploads. Either it needs to or it
needs to renamed/retargetted.

[Bug 30608] New: Add a gallery style to Special:ListFiles/USERNAME, merge code with Special:NewFiles

2011-08-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 30608
Summary: Add a gallery style to Special:ListFiles/USERNAME,
merge code with Special:NewFiles
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.19-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Special pages
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: g.m.haged...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

This enhancement request replaces Bug 28074 - Add support for transclusion to
Special:NewFiles/username

In bug 28074 the use case of user motivation by enabling an embeddable gallery
of ones own images is discussed. The present situation is:

* Special:NewFiles has a gallery style and shows newest images first, but can
neither be restricted to a user, nor is it embeddable.
* Special:ListFiles has a technical tabular style with thumbs, shows newest
images first and is embeddable.

PROPOSAL:

1. Add the gallery display of NewFiles as an option to ListFiles in a syntax
that can be used during embedding (e.g. Special:NewFiles/Gallery)
2. Add an option how many files are shown in a syntax that can be used during
embedding (e.g. Special:NewFiles/username/n=20)
3. Dissolve the present, largely duplicated NewFiles and make it a redirect to
the gallery style of Special:NewFiles

This would close bug 28074 (gallery of user-images can be embedded on user
pages) and probably also bug 14964 (ListFiles provides full functionality of
NewFiles mentioned in that bug, and the toggle Gallery/List would then be
implemented).

We can already make them load separately afaik by putting them in different
groups with the group property of the ResourceLoaderModule.

Why is only=script/no-wrapper needed though ?

Loaded 'after anything else' is a bit tricky right now. It assumes that
everything before (both top/bottom queue) has loaded before that script tag
and was synchronous, we already know that isn't the case. Some kind of über
dependency ?

I'd say let it only depend on the default core and legacy module(s), and
recommend stuff that has other dependencies to be put in gadgets after
MediaWiki 1.19 (which will have the 'default' and 'hidden' property and support
for dependencies).

Related perhaps, but almost certainly not in the sense of a split

* Special:ListFiles has a technical tabular style with thumbs, shows newest
images first, can be restricted to a user, and is embeddable. It primarily
misses a non-technical gallery style to serve the use case of user-galleries.

[Bug 164] Support collation by a certain locale (sorting order of characters)

--- Comment #231 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2011-08-28 23:35:55 UTC ---
Re JS sortable table stuff (this bug is about too many things...): Well client
side js sorting stuff would be nice, since these tables aren't dynamic,
wouldn't it be easier to: on the server side add a sortkey as a data attribute
for each cell of the table, and then just sort that on client side. (Only issue
with this is it might be complicated to implement in the parser [table code in
parser is scary imho, but I'm sure some other people find it less scary], and
lang preferences, but I think that just using the content language [or the
page's language I suppose now that we have that] would be sufficient).

Thoughts?

Can you try to reproduce this ?
1) Upload a new file through Special:Upload
2) Delete it the normal way (action=delete) which deleted both file-page and
file itself (to file-archive), hidden from view and logged the action in
Special:Log
3) Do a new upload from Special:Upload to the same filename of the file that
once existed but was deleted. Does that work without any warnings or stuff ?
(there may be a warning you're uploading to a filename that was recently
deleted, that's fine).

on the other hand: an old version of an image isn't really used at all, where
an old revision of a page is generally incorporated into the next revision of

keep special:listfiles the way it is currently, we definitely should have a

I don't think it's a good idea to use jQuery with the object mw as the
selector. It currently works, .bind/.trigger match, but I think it's more by
luck and it might break in the future.

According to the documentation, jQuery() is designed to be given a selector
string, a DOM element, an array of DOM elements, another jQuery object, or even
nothing; but certainly not pure JS objects.

Actually perhaps this is intentional (but extremely confusing behaviour)

The Submit modified file description means I changed something please try
again and see if the warnings go away. However the fact that there was
previously a deleted file there will never change, so that will always trigger
another warning. Ignore warning and save file anyways is the button you want
to hit (I think).

If this is intended behaviour, its really confusing behaviour. I think the
three button warning interface needs to be re-thought for usability.

Mailman 2.1.9 being vulnerable to various XSS attacks has been reported in
 OTRS

stable GNU Mailman version is 2.1.14, released on 20-Sep-2010, as also
mentioned almost a year ago in comment 5 by Ashar.

If there are XSS vulnerabilities, that warrants an increased importance rating,
in my view. And makes this no longer an enhancement. Not that these drop-downs
really mean much, but still...

[Bug 164] Support collation by a certain locale (sorting order of characters)

2011-08-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164

--- Comment #232 from Philippe Verdy verd...@wanadoo.fr 2011-08-29 01:29:45
UTC ---
If table contents are static, it's true that their collation weights could be
delivered as well with the visible table.

In a past message above, I had already proposed that the function that already
is needed to sort categories, and that computes the UCA collation keys, would
be exposed as a ParserFunction. This would then obviously allow any wiki page
to compose web tables containing both the visible data and the associated
collation key.

Many very complex templates, that are used to generate sortable
pseudo-collation keys would no longer be needed or would be largely simplified.
In fact, I even proposed initially to first expose this function before even
modifying the schema of categories : there was no immediate mergency to modify
this schema, as long as we could experiment assigning sort keys when
categorizing a page, using that ParserFunction.

And probably we would have been able to experiment with a better schema,
including one that would have allowed multiple collation keys (generated from
different locale parameters), something that has been forgotten completely (and
that will require a new change in the database schema in the future, to support
multiple collations according to users localisation preferences (and
expectations).

Anyway, my work on JS implementation of UCA is already well advanced, and in
fact more advanced now on some points that MySQL still does not support
correctly, notably contractions and expansions.

And very soon I'll add support for contexts (see UTR#35 to see what I mean with
those terms), because it's a trivial use of contractions and expansions,
combined

But it can be implemented also as a separate function, to generate shorter
keys, I'm stil not very concerned by choosing the most compact format for
representing collation keys, but I have already worked a lot in how to compact
automatically the sets of collation weights for each level, suppressing all
unnecessary gaps that are shown in the standard DUCET table, and only provided
for convenience with very basic implementation of UCA not using tailorings, or
only using very basic tailorings and no contraction/expansions).

For now, the most critical algorithm (that takes most time when computing
collation keys, or when directly comparing two strings) is the computing the
NFD: I can save time when comparing pair of strings (for example processing
only the begining of strings ontil a collation difference is found, and this
does not always require strings being fully converted to NFD), but not when
computing any collation key (unless I also add a constraint limiting the length
of the generated collation keys, this constraint allowing to stop early). I
have looked at severla implementation of Unicode normalizers in Javascript, I'm
not satisfied with them as they are clearly not optimal.

In fact both the NFD transform and the generation of collation weights for each
level are linked: if we sort only on primary collation level, we loose too much
time in computing the NFD transform, that provides too many unnecessary details
that will be finally ignored: this means that I'm also trying to perform a NFD
transform, that removes these details. Such transform is effectively what the
Unicode standard calls a collation mapping (something more powerful than just
a case mapping, or even a case folding).

Such collation mapping would be extremely useful for implementing the first
letter classification in categories, or even to provide thiner classifications
in very populated categories (for example allowing two letters). This needs is
in fact exactly equivalent to searching for the smallest string that has the
smallest collation keys containing only two collation weights per collation
level, and with a collation set to only one level, and this also can be largely
optimized so that the NFD transform will remove all collation-ignorable details
that would never be needed to compute the collation key.

All this is an interesting subject of research (and even ICU does not provide
such a general mechanism...).

I will be also innovative in how to provide a very compact representation of
tailorings. I also have ideas on how to represent, store, query and cache the
precomputed lookup tables for tailorings. And on a standard interface that will
allow plugable implementations in native code (if possible and needed), or for
use with other languages, but also with other non-UCA based collations
(including dummy collations, such as binary sorting, or sorting by standard
case folding, or by standard case mappings), or complex collations requiring a
lot more mapping data than the DUCET and a set of collation orders and
contractions/expansions (for example for sorting Han ideographs on
radical/stroke, or for sorting based on romanisations and other
translitterations, that are all language-dependant; but for which

There may be other sensible meta-properties that I haven't found or thought of.
They should be added to this bug report as people think of them. Also, I
suggest consolidating those other two bugs into this one.
