From the bug triage I can remember that it's basically using the wrong i18n calls in UploadWizard. It's using a lot of gM() where it should be using mw.msg(). The function fixDeprecatedAttributes from Santizer.php should add a CSS class
to changed tags.
Usecase:
A user wants to fix all usage of deprecated attributes. To find them, he puts
li[type] {outline: 2px solid red;}
into his common.css.
This doesn't work when the attributes are automatically converted to CSS.
If an extra class was added, the user could use
li.mw-deprecated-attr-type {outline: 2px solid red;}

If it's still being loaded, that's probably a bug in Gadgets. Marking as an unconfirmed bug in Gadgets? The gadget is not being loaded, it simply doesn't exist anymore on Wikipedia. So not a Gadgets extension bug. If it's not being loaded and it's not being listed in Special:Preferences, then the stray old setting is harmless. So not a Wikimedia bug. I have no clue how that conclusion is drawn from the above. Can you elaborate? If the only complaint is that it is still a ghost entry in the user settings database (as Brion was saying) then it is not a complaint we need to worry about. It would be wonfix bug. Moving back to Wikimedia and marking as invalid, because the original request appears to be misplaced and overloaded with confusion. This is outdated and hasn't been an issue for a quite a while. I can't recall where I saw it but I was using my iPod touch and saw some autocompletion list use ellipsis in the middle and thought it was brilliant. When using long titles the beginning will be the same, especially knowing that our list will be in alphabetical order (as opposed to search rank or whatever, which is what a search engine's suggestions would/could be) it is very likely and worth optimizing for.
