I tried this on en.wikipedia with [[Mathur, Krishnagiri]], which I couldn't find in it. The absence of new pages from the new pages feed is a very old and very annoying bug, which has been exploited by paid editors and other problematic editors (see the en-wiki Signpost from 9 october). Pages which get moved from another mainspace to the main namespace should be listed as new pages on the date of the move. We use the wgForeignFileRepos which works perfect (means we see the file and we can even enlarge it!) BUT NOT getting thumbs. No thumbnailing if a mediafile is used in the various language WIKIs (if a local Mediafile is used, meaning directly uploaded to the corresponding WIKI thumbnailing works). works great. There's a corner case, though, where if you have a term with
spaces in it (e.g. myocardial infarction), and the line happens to wrap in the
middle of the term, you end up with a tooltip that goes off the right margin of
the page. I'm doing some investigation, but one quick-and-dirty fix for it is
to add white-space: nowrap; to the .tooltip_abbr CSS class in skins/Lingo.css.
That portion of my skins/Lingo.css, for instance, reads:

border-bottom: 1px dotted #bbf;
white-space: nowrap;
}
This solves the problem, but it means that you can get some ugly line breaking
patterns as a result. I'll keep investigating to see if there isn't a more
elegant way to fix this bug.

And SVGs have no limits. The best place to tweak layer/group visibility is rsvg. It already checks element visibility and it's a matter of changing its mind. At this interface the widest (rawest) approach is the best, probably new command parameters that select which elements visibility has to be turned on, e.g. ongid=regex and onglabel=regex with regex supporting OR.
