It's obviously totally unclear to many beginners, for which language their input fields are and how they can change it. This is resulting in masses of wrong-language input (Special:AbuseFilter/8 alone, which only covers the insertion of language names in those fields, is triggered every 30 minutes). Even if I know how to change the ULS language and how to control the language selection by babel boxes, it's not possible to see (let alone edit) labels/descriptions/aliases in all languages without the use of an external tool. It would be more useful if it was possible to specify what should happen, for example there could be variable editconflictresolution=[automerge|fail|overwrite] automerge - would do what it does now fail - would return an error in case there was any kind of edit conflict overwrite - would ignore all edits of other people and would overwrite the page with new content This is useful for things like antivandalism tools which need to deliver a message to users based on current content of their talkpage (the warning template level get adjusted based on templates currently present on the page). When two users post in same moment, the edit conflict get resolved by merging both messages, that have same level. Being able to fail on edit conflict would allow tool to redownload content of talk page and parse it again. I believe that other bots / tools could use this as well when they edit the page based on current content of a page. And there is no need to. 2.- No need to source: a dataset is part of an statement so the source would go on the statement where it is linked from, not on the page where the information is stored (it becomes much easier to manage) 3.- Non-editable content: like with media files, datasets are not expected to change. You could clear them and repopulate them again, though (like uploading a new version of a file on Commons). Defining which property corresponds to each row, which Q-items are used in the dataset, and checking datatype constraints, that should be done only on dataset creation/upload. At the moment, the workflow to add subtitles is: 1. Go to Amara 2. Give it the URL of the video on Wikimedia Commons 3. Write subtitles 4. Export and import into Commons.
