Intention:
I clicked on "Einstellungen" (= user settings) in MediaWiki.

Steps to Reproduce:
Click on "Einstellungen" (= user settings) in MediaWiki.

Actual Results:
After clicking on "Einstellungen" (= user settings) in MediaWiki I get the
following error message:

[54a24a72] /community/index.php/Spezial:Einstellungen Exception from line 134
of /path_to_wwwroot/community/includes/Preferences.php: Global default '6' is
invalid for field math

(Where "path_to_wwwroot" is a replacement for apache's wwwroot-directory path.)

As far as I have figured out the system tries to get settings from the data
base which are invalid. It is a fresh installation of MediaWiki without any
content yet. Therefor I would expect no such error at all. I can clearly trace
this to the Math extension: If I deactivate it in LocalSettings.php everything
works fine.

This bug affects ALL users. Even new ones created.

Expected Results:
I would expect to see the "Einstellungen" page. But it does not show the page.
Instead I get the error message as described.

Reproducible: Always

The full stack trace:

[20b5b220] /community/index.php/Spezial:Einstellungen Exception from line 134
of /srv/www/wwwroot_ssl/community/includes/Preferences.php: Global default '6'
is invalid for field math

Please note that the Wiki is installed in a subdirectory to wwwroot called
"community". But this should have any effect according to the problem.

[Bug 67578] New: ApiSandbox shouldn't automatically set rvlimit when using generators with prop=revisions

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67578

Bug ID: 67578
   Summary: ApiSandbox shouldn't automatically set rvlimit when
using generators with prop=revisions
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW

   Mobile Platform: ---

Set up the following query in ApiSandbox:

* action=query
* prop=revisions
* titles=<>
* generator=links

Note that rvlimit=10 gets pre-filled for you. Execute the request, and you get
a somewhat cryptic error (rvmultpages), telling you not to set rvlimit when
using a generator.

To get the request to work, you have to clear rvlimit manually. This is
particularly annoying when you are adding and removing query modules, as
rvlimit gets set back to 10 every time.

Going by what the error message says, this issue may also occur when querying
multiple pages via "titles" or "pageids".

[Bug 67576] New: Annotations are not preserved between edits

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67576

Bug ID: 67576
   Summary: Annotations are not preserved between edits
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Annotator
  Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
  Reporter: drobb...@funtoo.org
CC: mflasc...@wikimedia.org, richa.jain1...@gmail.com,
tylerro...@gmail.com
   Web browser: ---
   Mobile Platform: ---

Currently, any edits to a page will create a new page with no annotations,
which makes this extension very difficult to use. You must look at the page
history, and look at each revision for potential annotations that people may
have added, and there is no icon or other indication that a revision actually
*has* annotations. So they are likely to be lost or ignored.

Ideally, annotations would be preserved through wiki edits and apply to newer
revisions of pages. This would likely require updates to the editor.

I realize that this may be technically challenging to implement. However, the
preservations of annotations across edits does seem to be essential for really
ensuring that this extension is useful (In fact, I wouldn't consider this
annotation feature actually fully implemented until this is supported.)

The true ideal implementation would be to display annotations in the editor,
and like a true word processor, track changes to the underlying text to ensure
that the annotation still existed even if the underlying text was modified in
some way, as is how annotations work in word processors. This would have the
added benefit of allowing editors to view annotations in real-time as they are
editing a document, which would be extremely handy as many annotations deal
with changes to the document that need to be made (or at least, should be
addressed in some way during an edit cycle.

Proposed design:

[ editor window top ]

[ Highlighted yellow: Editing this line in the editor ]

[ editor window bottom ]

[ Annotation: Display annotation(s) related to cursor position here. ]
[ Button: add comment ] <-- editor would use this to add comment to existing
annotation, related to any edits.

I don't know if that is helpful for conveying how annotations could work in the
editor, or not. I think this should be added to the default editor, and
VisualEditor can add its own support. I don't think this feature should be
VE-only.

A possible work-around to make things a bit more bearable in the mean-time
would be to add some kind of icon in the page history to indicate revisions
that have annotations, so that the maintainer of the page can go through the
page's history and look for annotations from people.

There are two test namespaces available at testwiki, "Test namespace 1" and
"Test namespace 2". In particular, "Test namespace 1" has namespace ID 100,
which is identical to the "Kommentarer" namespace on nowikibooks.

Would these namespaces suffice, or is there a particular reason why you require
a namespace called precisely "Comments"?

If that's a good thing, it should be used in the normal file page link as well,
not just MediaViewer.

The big drawback is that the language would revert back as soon as the user
follows some link, which would be very confusing.

I think ULS supported a setlang parameter at some point, which would be more
suitable for this, but dropped support at some point.

--- Comment #1 from Ryan (Rjd0060)  ---
I am the RD to which Lego refers to. ;-)

Rather than creating a css hack to hide the effects of VE, it should be an
option somewhere in user preferences to "disable" VE. The default can be set
to having VE enabled.

I am an OTRS administrator. Some were originally under the impression that
this was going to be the case but as of now there is no way to opt-out other
than personal scripts.

The crash I am able to easily reproduce is this:

# 0  bt_handler at /srv/hhvm-dev/hphp/util/process.h:81
# 1  lua_sethook at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblua5.1.so.0:0

# 5  clone at
/build/buildd/eglibc-2.19/misc/../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86_64/clone.S:113

No PHP stack trace is present.

[Bug 67572] New: Ability to map additional dirs & apache vhosts

Please add an ability to easily (per .settings.yaml) map additional host dirs
to remote. For example:

   synced_folders:
 '/vagrant/mystuff': '/host/dir/mystuff'  # guest-dir: host-dir

Additionally, some of these dirs or their subdirs should be mappable as vhosts
in apache with default lenient permissions to allow quick testing of minor
php/js code without adding junk to the local mediawiki git repo:

   apache_folders:
 'mystuff': '/vagrant/mystuff/www'  # vhost: guest-dir

Hi Dejan, thanks for taking the time to report this!

What are exact steps, click by click, to reproduce this problem, on some
example page (URL welcome)? Is this about "Uredi povezave" at the bottom of the
sidebar?

[Bug 67571] New: Vagrant not starting properly on first boot

On Windows 8.1 x64, when a new VM is created, it almost always does not start
from the first time (I get lots of "default: Warning: Remote connection
disconnect. Retrying..." followed by an error). Repeating it with "vagrant up"
states that the machine is up. I have to "vagrant halt -f" and "vagrant up",
sometimes several times, until initial provisioning starts up. I saw this
behavior in 1.5.x and now in the latest 1.6.3 version.

Hmm, yeah, bug 17212 is similar to this, but in my vision i can decide for each
category, if the displaytitle is used on category page or not :) So, the
category i discribed above will use the displaytitle, but the others category
still use it not. I think it's not a duplicate, what do you mean?

[Bug 67570] New: Partially started or locked up VM gets replaced with new one

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 67570

Rarely VM could enter some "weird" unfinished state, for example if I hits
Ctrl+C during "vagrant up", or if I do "vagrant halt" without "-f" followed
immediately by "vagrant up" again. In that state, "vagrant up" causes a new
machine to be created, even though the previous machine simply needs to be
force-stopped. This causes lots of aggravation since I now have to re-attach
proper VM to vagrant.

I wrote about it in January 2013 at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Yurik/Installing_Linux_virtual_box_under_Windows_7#Losing_VM_association
-- how to restore that assoc, but I think our vagrant should be smart enough to
warn users and/or attempt to force shutdown existing machine instead of
creating a new one.

I want to create a category with a list of articles, which explain several
shortcuts. The articles uses the magic word displaytitle to add the shortcut
(example: Pages URL(-name) is "Force Close" and displaytitle is "Force Close
(FC)"). For the category it's better to show the the displaytitle instead of
the url title. So i suggest a new magic word (__USEDISPLAYTITLE__) for category
pages to use displaytitle.

(This is the same on the Android app, and I think I picked the verbiage...)

This refers to EventLogging. Pains have been taken to make people as anonymous
as possible. It collects:

1. Session tracking information, so we can see how many pages people view in a
session.
2. Edit funnel tracking, to see how people go through the edit workflow.
3. ToC tracking (Android only) to see how people use the ToC
4. Login/Create account funnel tracking.
5. Saved page tracking. Note that this does not track which saved pages you are
viewing/saving.
6. Tracking of HTTPS errors, primarily to check on the censorship situation in
China.
7. (Sampled) log of the operator your phone is on. There was a wikimedia-l
discussion about it, IIRC.

https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixIndex&prefix=MobileWikiApp&namespace=470
has the full list of the Schemas we use for tracking.

Might change in the future. Your username is only recorded in the edit funnel,
along with the revid if your page is saved. I've also tried to minimize
possibilities of corelating the various events to form a more complete picture
by using different randomly generated unique IDs.

And no, if you opt out, it is not retroactive.

Yes. New versions are deployed on WMF sites according to this schedule:
[[mw:MediaWiki 1.24/Roadmap]]. This fix will be part of version 1.24wmf13.
It is possible to backport a change and deploy it immediately (or within
24 hours, at least), but that's usually reserved for severe bugs affecting

(In reply to Bawolff (Brian Wolff) from comment #5)

The primary disruption is to vandalism watchers and recent changes patrollers.
The abuse filter can be modified to hardcode an exception for 127.0.0.1, but
there are still less intrusive mechanisms triggered by it. For example, the
CVNBot reports actions by all anonymous users and these bogus actions clutter
up the already very full feed of our dear already overloaded patroller teams.

I'd say the sooner the better, all these things are distracting and just add
that extra bit of annoyance that can be demotivating to the user experience.

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67567

Bug ID: 67567
   Summary: Oozie setup does not reliably set up Oozie's

   Product: Analytics
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

In a fresh labs CDH 5 cluster installed by our puppet, Oozie need not
be functional. Basic hive workflows for me failed with

  IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0

Oozie not having had sharelibs properly installed turned out to be
responsible for this.

Puppet had installed only a the stax jar [1] in HDFS for oozie, hence
the cdh::oozie::server's 'unless' guard [2] prevented proper install
of oozie's sharelibs.

--

* Steps to reproduce:
Create a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 CDH5 cluster
(from production puppet of 2014-07-04 ~15:00:00)
  master:
role::analytics::hadoop::master
role::analytics::hive::server
role::analytics::oozie::server
  worker 1, and worker 2:
role::analytics::hadoop::worker
role::analytics::hive::client
role::analytics::oozie::client
role::analytics::pig
  All three instances having set hadoop_namenodes to the FQDN of the
  master.

* Expected Result:

  Oozie had sharelibs installed in HDFS.

* Actual Result:

  Only stax-api-*.jar are present in oozies sharelib directory [1].

* Steps to recover from broken Oozie

  On master node, as root run:

  1. /usr/bin/oozie-setup sharelib create -fs hdfs:// -locallib
/usr/lib/oozie/oozie-sharelib-yarn.tar.gz
  2. /etc/init.d/oozie restart

  Then, running

oozie admin -shareliblist

  should give you

hive2
pig

[Bug 65200] VisualEditor: Edit led to a DEFAULTSORT entry being removed(?)

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65200

--- Comment #2 from Elitre  ---
(To clarify, obviously categories can be removed from an article anytime, but
from the diffs it looks like the user has selected and deleted a huge part of
text at the bottom of the article, and it doesn't seem that he was there to
vandalize it - hence, could be a bug.)

[Bug 44660] Review PDBHandler extension

2014-07-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #10 from Bawolff (Brian Wolff) ---
(In reply to Jean-Fred from comment #9)

There was some issues with the extension. Nobody fixed the issues so the patch
got ambandoned. To move forward would require someone interested in fixing the
spotted issue.

On a related note, there is ongoing work by Rillke to add support for the mol
file format

This should certainly be done, cf. 0e30a230d8eb105ff3724d4aade4be57eadba2a1 ;
but I don't understand if the file is in operations/puppet, where I only find
files/misc/robots-txt-disallow (used for gerrit) and
modules/mediawiki_singlenode/files/robots.txt (used in labs).

IMHO the robots.txt "catchall" disallow rules should all be managed by
files/misc/robots-txt-disallow and ia_archiver allowed there.
