I'll look at making some edits to the wiki docs to make it more obvious how to achieve this result. First, i'm sorry if my english is so poor: I'm french and I was a bad student at scool ! I would point out that a bad translation affects all pages on the French version: When you click on an image you can read in it something like "Image en plus haute résolution (Fichier SVG, résolution de 600 × 660 pixels, taille : 61 Kio)", that means : "Image in higher resolution (SVG file, nominally 600 × 660 pixels, file size: 61 KB) "The French word should be : "defined" and not "resolution". "Definition" and "resolution" have not all the same meaning in French, even if this confusion is common. Then please, do something that is written : "Image en plus haute définition (Fichier SVG, définition de 600 × 660 pixels, taille : 61 Kio)". I don't think Mark meant that *you* (or WMUA) were "arbitrary people"! If we enable the RSS extension on a wiki that anyone can edit, then other random people (not you guys) could use this extension and that might be a security vulnerability. Whether or not it's a security concern, though, is the decision of the ops team. [Bug 27766] New: Add configuration option to enable loading javascript based on url parameter
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27766 Summary: Add configuration option to enable loading javascript based on url parameter Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.18-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Resource Loader AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com Inspired by the "withJS-url parameter"-script floating around various wikis (which calls importScript() if the passed pagename is in the MediaWiki:-namespace), I think such functionality would qualify as core functionality. For backwards compatiblity and to avoid any security issues on wikis which use the MediaWiki:-namespace on a less-than-sysop security level, this should be disabled by default, and enableable with a wiki global (eg. $wgAllowWithModuleLoading=true;) However given how the resourceloader currently works and how it will/may work in the future [1]. I think it's best not to implemenent the script as it is now on those wikis, instead I've made this bug depend on bug 27535 ( registering wikistyles and wikiscripts as part of a module ), and propose to make the parameter someting like withModule. Example: * http://wi.ki/w/index.php?title=Foobar&withModule=ext.gadget.Foobar That way it can be used to load CSS as well, since CSS can be (part of) a module. This also stops the need to create mini-scriptpages in the MediaWiki:-namespace that would call importScript() and importStylesheet() several times (once for every css/js part of the module) in order to make it work with the withJS-hack. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

This should load libraries and scripts that only use jquery, wikibits and other basic MW scripts. I think the best mechanism would be gadgets based. By that I mean to load scripts defined on a special page like this: # some_lib.js # other-lib.js{*} # Some AdvancedEditing Stuff.js {user.autoconfirmed,edit,ns[0]} # ForSpecialOnSpecial.js{user.bureaucrat,ns.Special,user.sysop} All scripts would be loaded in order given. The scripts would have a common prefix e.g. "MediaWiki:Lib-". Parsing: `/[\r\n]# *([^|{}]+) *\{(.+)\}/` * $1 - script page name without the prefix * $2 - options (CSV, order not important) Options: * "*" - for all on all pages (default) * edit - only when editing * user.groupname - only for users with given * ns[name space number] * ns.CanonicalNamespaceName Additionally a section for scripts to be loaded without parsing with RL would be nice. This could be a characteristic of how and when the username field gets updated in the revision table. We see a range of inconsistencies along the lines of many usernames matched with the same ID, many IDs matched with the same username, non-ip usernames with no ID and completely missing user information.
