Actually looking at getLatestRevID(), it doesn't handle cache/FOR_UPDATE
well...

Please change the name of Portal into تانبه

Sometimes ago it was changed into ورټک and one can make portals by using the
English name portal and the Pashto name ورټک. But since i translated the
interface word portal into تانبه therefore i want you guys to make the word
تانبه specific for portal so that one can make portals in wikipedia and other
wikimedia projects by simply using the word تانبه which stands for portal in
pashto.

Thanks

[Bug 27638] Add a link output format to inline queries

--- Comment #3 from John Morton  2011-02-27 10:20:45

Yes, that does pretty much what I want, so maybe this is just a documentation
bug after all :-)

Minor difference: the search page will use it's default limit, as you can't
supply one if you're setting limit=-1.

I'll look at making some edits to the wiki docs to make it more obvious how to
achieve this result.

Would I be right in assuming that setting searchlabel empty is a good way to
suppress the further results link if you don't want one?

Bug still exists. I have written a query on toolserver which shows about 1
results on dewiki:
 SELECT page_title, il_to
  FROM dewiki_p.flaggedpages
   INNER JOIN dewiki_p.flaggedrevs ON fp_page_id = fr_page_id AND

   INNER JOIN commonswiki_p.image ci ON il_to = ci.img_name

Latest result is
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/de/w/index.php?title=Kaspar_Ritter_(Egg)#Heimatstilvilla_Nr._499
reviewed on 20110226180739 and image deleted later on that day
(20110226180947).

I check many of these results and all still have the problem not showing the
images. I'll start unreviewing/reviewing those page on dewiki soon to reduce
the imact of this bug on dewiki.

I do not belong to arbitrary people, as I am one of three bureaucrats of

http://wikimediaukraine.wordpress.com/feed/ is the RSS feed from the official

I just have protected http://ua.wikimedia.org/wiki/Вікімедіа_Україна (the main

protection should be added to the wiki.

It's in relation with the ux -> ŭ magic system which didn't more work just in

has been fixed, but now we have found an other one. Such problems had exist in

Hello, I think i am not in the goog place, but I don't see anover one better.

First, i'm sorry if my english is so poor: I'm french and I was a bad student
at scool !

I would point out that a bad translation affects all pages on the French
version: When you click on an image you can read in it something like "Image en
plus haute résolution‎ (Fichier SVG, résolution de 600 × 660 pixels, taille :
61 Kio)", that means : "Image in higher resolution (SVG file, nominally 600 ×
660 pixels, file size: 61 KB) "The French word should be : "defined" and not
"resolution". "Definition" and "resolution" have not all the same meaning in
French, even if this confusion is common.
Then please, do something that is written : "Image en plus haute définition
(Fichier SVG, définition de 600 × 660 pixels, taille : 61 Kio)".

Thanks a lot.

It's "ops", as in the "operations team" -- the techies who make sure that the
sites are up and manage the servers.

I don't think Mark meant that *you* (or WMUA) were "arbitrary people"! If we
enable the RSS extension on a wiki that anyone can edit, then other random
people (not you guys) could use this extension and that might be a security
vulnerability. Whether or not it's a security concern, though, is the decision
of the ops team.

Mark is the bugmeister, so he's just making sure that all of the information
here is complete and clear, and making sure that the right people see it. He's
trying to make sure your bug gets handled as soon as it possibly can. :-)

> I just have protected http://ua.wikimedia.org/wiki/Вікімедіа_Україна (the main

> protection should be added to the wiki.

I think Mark meant something for the whole site, such as disabling IP editing,
but I could be wrong.

By the way, Mark, this bug is very similar: bug 26732. They both deal with
enabling the RSS extension on public sites.

As far as I understand, both of these like buttons would violate the WMF
privacy policy, in that they track users. Share buttons (which are just buttons
that trigger links), are possible, but these Javascript generated counters that
exchange profile information cannot be used.

This in theory, should be trivial enough to fix. Not quite sure why it was
coded as such originally, might be worth checking out, even if it's "we didn't
expect people to just want X token".

Will poke at later somepoint

Hi there!

There is no community consensus because we the Pashto Wikipedia project doesn't
have lots of active members. I am the only person who has been translating the
interface of Pashto Wikipedia since 2005. I am also the admin and bureaucrat of
the Pashto Wikipedia. I changed the name of the portal from ورټک into تانبه
after finding out that the later mentioned translation was the best and proper
one which can portray the exact function and meaning of the word Portal used in
Wikipedia. If you have further inquiries please contact me.

[Bug 27766] New: Add configuration option to enable loading javascript based on url parameter

2011-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27766

   Summary: Add configuration option to enable loading javascript
based on url parameter
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Resource Loader
AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com
CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com

Inspired by the "withJS-url parameter"-script floating around various wikis
(which calls importScript() if the passed pagename is in the
MediaWiki:-namespace), I think such functionality would qualify as core
functionality.

For backwards compatiblity and to avoid any security issues on wikis which use
the MediaWiki:-namespace on a less-than-sysop security level, this should be
disabled by default, and enableable with a wiki global (eg.
$wgAllowWithModuleLoading=true;)

However given how the resourceloader currently works and how it will/may work
in the future [1].
I think it's best not to implemenent the script as it is now on those wikis,
instead I've made this bug depend on bug 27535 ( registering wikistyles and
wikiscripts as part of a module ), and propose to make the parameter someting
like withModule.

Example:
* http://wi.ki/w/index.php?title=Foobar&withModule=ext.gadget.Foobar

That way it can be used to load CSS as well, since CSS can be (part of) a
module.

This also stops the need to create mini-scriptpages in the MediaWiki:-namespace
that would call importScript() and importStylesheet() several times (once for
every css/js part of the module) in order to make it work with the withJS-hack.

Casey, thanks for your help! I wasn't clear enough.

Yuri, I think it would be possible to only allow the RSS feed to work with

still require work on the RSS extension to do that. I'll open a bug on the RSS
extension.

It would be nice to have some restrictions, like which RSS feeds would be

like it would help minimize abuse on publicly editable wikis.

When I use the code below, CSS is taking too long to load:

injectStyleAndJS static function (& $ out, & $ sk) {
 global $ wgOut;
 $ wgOut-> AddModule ('ext.BookManager');
 return true;
 }

and this is only solved when I use addModuleStyles to call the same function:

static function injectStyleAndJS( &$out, &$sk ) {
global $wgOut ;
   $wgOut->addModuleStyles( 'ext.BookManager');
$wgOut->addModules( 'ext.BookManager');
return true;
}

and that to me seems a redundant.

Yes of course =D
1. install normally.
2. Import any book (this for example:
ttp://pt.wikibooks.org/wiki/Categoria:Livro/Introdu%C3%A7%C3%A3o_%C3%A0_programa%C3%A7%C3%A3o)
3. Then create a list of pages like this:
http://pt.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Wikilivros:Livros/Introdu%C3%A7%C3%A3o_%C3%A0_programa%C3%A7%C3%A3o&oldid=140619
4. Finally remove the piece of code where
 is written "$ wgOut-> addModuleStyles ('ext.BookManager'); "
https://code.google.com/p/mediawiki-book-manager/source/browse/trunk/BookManager.body.php?r=35#305

PS:

A correction on the description of this bug:
Where has written: "injectStyleAndJS static function (& $ out, & $ sk) " is
actually
"static function injectStyleAndJS (&$out, &$sk) "

I mean a clean install, just to proof/test this bug itself (loading css being
bslow), not anything related to BookManager in any way.

ie.
Reproduce:
1. Checkout SVN branch/REL1_17
2. Create /extensions/Test/Test.php
3. Put the following 4 lines in Test.php

4. Edit LocalSettings.php and and include it
5. See it load slow

Change the following lines in Test.php
and see it load fast.

[Bug 27771] New: Mechanism for loading site wide libraries

2011-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27771

   Summary: Mechanism for loading site wide libraries
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Resource Loader
AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: e...@wp.pl
CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com

Currently you cannot load anything before gadgets. This should load libraries
and scripts that only use jquery, wikibits and other basic MW scripts.

I think the best mechanism would be gadgets based. By that I mean to load
scripts defined on a special page like this:
# some_lib.js
# other-lib.js{*}
# Some AdvancedEditing Stuff.js {user.autoconfirmed,edit,ns[0]}
# ForSpecialOnSpecial.js{user.bureaucrat,ns.Special,user.sysop}

All scripts would be loaded in order given. The scripts would have a common
prefix e.g. "MediaWiki:Lib-".

Parsing:
`/[\r\n]# *([^|{}]+) *\{(.+)\}/`
* $1 - script page name without the prefix
* $2 - options (CSV, order not important)

Options:
* "*" - for all on all pages (default)
* edit - only when editing
* user.groupname - only for users with given
* ns[name space number]
* ns.CanonicalNamespaceName

Additionally a section for scripts to be loaded without parsing with RL would
be nice. Something like:
== Load == <-- optional section heading
#stdlib
== Minification off == <-- case insensitive section name
# SomethingSpecialAndVerySpecific
# http://maybe.even.external/script.js?

Would be great to have built into RL.

This is a tracker bug that should not be closed. It tracks the progress of a
number of XML data post-processing issues. These are steps that right now a
researcher should take to clean up the data but it's better to fix those issues
in the database (if possible)

[Bug 27773] New: Length of dump text and length field in API do not match

AssignedTo: ar...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: dvanli...@gmail.com
CC: tf...@wikimedia.org, aaron.halfa...@gmail.com

Length of dump text and length field in API do not match (even after UF8
encoding) due to inconsistent line break characters and beginning/ending
whitespace.
Note that this results in false negatives when detecting identity reverts

Current workaround:
Strip whitespace from the beginning/end and replace all "\r\n" (windows
linebreak) with "\n". With this approach, you get acceptable (99%), but still
imperfect consistency between API and dump.

[Bug 27774] New: Username to user_id match is inconsistent in revisions of dump.

ReportedBy: dvanli...@gmail.com
CC: tf...@wikimedia.org, aaron.halfa...@gmail.com

Username to user_id match is inconsistent in revisions of dump.
This could be a characteristic of how and when the username field gets updated
in the revision table. If so, it would be nice to have a clear explanation of
what things to expect (e.g. deleted users, username changes, etc).
We see a range of inconsistencies along the lines of many usernames matched
with the same ID, many IDs matched with the same username, non-ip usernames
with no ID and completely missing user information.
Our approach is to associate a user_id with its most recent username and
propagate this username to all instances of user_id.

Proposed solution:

1) Run SQL query to synchronize usernames with userids.
2) Run SQL query to replace cases hostname is the username.

This seems to be a fact of life as new information is logged and data
formatting is improved or extended. It would be nice if there was a way to
look up how to interpret log events and when log formats switched. This is
important for tracking user renames, page moves, blocks and grants. Right now,
we tr to infer rules and changes by looking at raw data which is inconsistent
at best.
