[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T117421: [Story] Put identifiers into separate section in the UI

2015-11-20 Thread thiemowmde
thiemowmde added a comment.

- I was also thinking about a StatementsView just as you described, but it
would be so simple (only two or three lines of code) that I decided to inline
it into ItemView and PropertyView.
- I do not really understand why a series of StatementSectionViews needs to be
wrapped in an other view ("listview" in your comment). What does this give us?
A StatementSectionView is a headline plus a StatementGroupListView. A series of
StatementSectionViews is a series of alternating headings and
StatementGroupListViews. Done. Please do not over-complicate straight
structures.

Everything else in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T117421#1820286 sounds
fine to me.

What you write in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T117421#1820306 confuses me
or should not be discussed in this ticket. We all know that delivering 10 MB
HTML to mobile devices is a problem. Hiding parts of it does not solve that.

Well I noticed something odd here yesterday, no value and some value are
counted as statement types. this is not the case!

So for the wikidata-todo stats the counts of statements by type - the no values
- the some values should give you the number of statements.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  Notes from discussion with Lydia!

- **Number of entites by entity type**
  - Can probably be done just counting pages in a namespace
  - Count properties in SPARQL below, (all the rest are items)
  - SELECT (count(?cs) as ?count) WHERE { ?cs a wikibase:Property }
- **Number of redirects by entity type**
  - As above redirects are recorded in the page table and we can filter by
NS
  - look for ?x owl:sameAs ?y in SPARQL for redirects
- **Number of Item talk pages**
- **Average blob size of items**
  - Easy db query

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T117234: Reproduce wikidata-todo/stats data using analytics infrastructure

2015-11-20 Thread Christopher
Christopher added a comment.

True, a statement is either referenced or "unreferenced". Getting the number
of referenced statements (currently 41,735,203) is easy and fast with:

  curl -G https://query.wikidata.org/bigdata/namespace/wdq/sparql
--data-urlencode ESTCARD --data-urlencode
'p='

So we use the total of wikibase:Statement objects to represent the total number
of statements and subtract referenced statements to get "unreferenced
statements".

What is still murky to me, and I think possibly wrong with the todo/stats data,
is the "Referenced statements by statement type". Something does not add up
there because the total should not be greater than the sum of "Statements
referenced to Wikipedia by statement type" and "Statements referenced to other
sources by statement type" ?

For getting counts of objects per item, this means running 19M separate queries
or is there another way? Creating a script to do this would be very similar
to the property distribution method that I have already done I guess.
Basically ask "list all of the items" and then "lapply(items, count labels,
statements, links, descriptions)"

We may simply need more structure on the page then.
Simply having a template called {{ShowCaseItem|Q123}} that just redirects to

It's a bit unclear to me what you are reacting to with this. I suppose it's
about the naming problem with ›statement group‹ being used already? From my
point of view, ›section‹ is a UI concept and not a data model concept. In the
JS data model, we currently have `StatementList`, `StatementGroup` and
`StatementGroupSet`. In PHP, we only have `StatementList` afaik. What we need
to do now is grouping on two levels, so we will have a `Set` mapping from
`string` to `StatementGroupSet` that in turn maps from `string` to
`StatementGroup`, which is just a `StatementList`.

My proposal is that we introduce a `StatementGrouper` that takes a
`StatementList` and returns a lot of `StatementList`s (mapped by `string`). As
you pointed out, it would be a bit awkward to have an interface called
`StatementGrouper` that doesn't use a `StatementGroup`, though. But since
`StatementGroup` is currently limited to use the main snak's property id, we
cannot just use it. So we either have to ignore the awkwardness I mentioned, or
we change `StatementGroup`, or we use a different name. I wouldn't like the
latter approach.

Sure, that's a `StatementGroupSet` and `StatementGroup`. I didn't imply
otherwise.

I'm fundamentally opposed to removing things from PHP's HTML output. I'm happy
to hide stuff using a CSS and JS combination, but I don't want to remove
anything.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T117421: [Story] Put identifiers into separate section in the UI

2015-11-20 Thread adrianheine
adrianheine added a comment.

After looking at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/253912, I had the following
thought:

I'm a bit unsure about the names and where the section title is rendered. In
PHP, that's all pretty simple, but I would like PHP and JS to be consistent,
and in JS things will be not so trivial.

In JS, an entityview will have a statementsectionsview which gets the whole
statements dom and all the statements (currently a StatementGroupSet) from the
entity. We could also call this view `statementsview`, since it does not matter
to the entityview whether the statements are in sections or whatever. To the
entityview, it's just the view handling the statements. I think I would like
that.

The statementsview would group the statements and pass each (section) group to
a statementsectionview, which would have the heading and a
statementgrouplistview. All the `statementsectionview`s would be in a listview.

With that approach, `StatementSectionsView` should indeed be called
`StatementSectionView`, and get only one section (key and statements) per
`getHtml` call. I would then like to have a `StatementsView` in PHP, too,
though. That `StatementsView` would do the grouping that's currently done in
both `ItemView` and `PropertyView` and call out to the `StatementSectionView`.

OK. I may have found an answer to the question of wildcard "Prefix Matching"
that is necessary in order to query for number of statements in an item.

  PREFIX bds:
  prefix wikibase:

  SELECT (count(distinct(?s)) AS ?scount)
  WHERE {
wd:Q20903715 ?p wikibase:Item
?s bds:search "wd:statement*" .
  }

This requires the FullTextSearch
https://wiki.blazegraph.com/wiki/index.php/FullTextSearch to be enabled (it is
not on query.wikidata.org). I will test on labs.

Nuria added a comment.

@addshore: It is on our backlog but we have several things before it so we
cannot give an ETA. Now, I suggest that 1) you do some ad-hoc querying and get
the data you need to met your end of December deadline. And 2) we can work
together on oozification of this job later.

This is so our team doesn't block you and you can have your data for dev
summit, that is a different deliverable than having an oozie job that
calculates this data on a fixed interval.

Let me know if this sounds Ok.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T119226: Very small (or very large) quantity values (represented in scientific notation) result in error in add/update via pywikibot/wikidata API

2015-11-20 Thread ArthurPSmith
ArthurPSmith created this task.
ArthurPSmith added a subscriber: ArthurPSmith.
ArthurPSmith added projects: Wikidata, Pywikibot-Wikidata, pywikibot-core.
Herald added subscribers: pywikibot-bugs-list, StudiesWorld, Aklapper.

TASK DESCRIPTION
pywikibot was recently updated to better handle decimal values - see this
gerrit code change: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/250497/ - however, as I
noted there in a comment at the end, there is a problem with very small values
(and I believe also for very large ones) which the formatter converts to
exponential notation. The Wikidata API does not accept numbers for quantity
values formatted with exponential notation. Either the formatter on the
pywikibot side needs to be smarter in converting values to a standard decimal
value the API understands, or the API needs to be more generous in accepting
scientific notation.

Here's the symptom of the problem: I tried adding a "proportion" qualifier
value that is 1.9e-9. I get the following warning and stack trace:
WARNING: API error invalid-snak: Invalid snak (Value must match the pattern
for decimal values.)

Traceback (most recent call last):

  data = req.submit()

  raise APIError(**result['error'])
pywikibot.data.api.APIError: invalid-snak: Invalid snak (Value must match
the pattern for decimal values.) [messages:[{'parameters': [], 'name':
'wikibase-api-invalid-snak', 'html': {'*': 'Invalid snak'}}]; help:See
https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php for API usage]

I have modified the pywikibot code to format the quantity values as
"+0.19" rather than "+1.9e-09" and it goes through just fine. That is
one solution, but it would probably better for the API to handle scientific
notation properly as this will come up with any client that tries to provide
very small (or large) values as quantities.

The following query gives me results when clicking 'execute' on

We have a meeting set up the week after next to figure out how to remove the
last roadblock. I can't yet give an estimate how long this last part will take
us unfortunately. It is however pretty high on my priority list. Currently
before it on the list still are improvements of identifier handling, some
performance improvements and integrating of constraint violations in the item
pages.
