daniel closed this task as "Declined".daniel added a comment. Assuming this requests support for partial dates in Time values, I'm declining this for technical and semantic reasons. A Time data value represents a specific point in time (with some level of uncertainty). It doesn't represent a partial date or recurring date. Mixing partial or recurring dates with points in time would be confusing (especially for machines), they should not use the same data type nor the same properties. If you think we need support for this kind of incomplete dates (how is this different from recurring dates?), please request a data type to be added for this. A new data type would also mean separate properties. On that note, using P3150 for birthdays as @Esc3300 mentions, and referring to the appropriate item representing the relevant day-of-the-year, seems like a good solution to me. Izno added a comment. Boolean is rarely useful for actually modeling information. We can tell more by linking to certain items. Example off the cuff: A "wifi" property was proposed as boolean. Instead, a "network" with the possibly types of network (wifi, ethernet, etc.) could have been proposed, since, lastly, we also have the special value "noValue" for cases where a location does not have network connectivity. Where needed (and I struggle to think of a valid case), we could do this with specific items. Acer added a comment. That's the point of this ticket, to use the Commonscat property to generate interlinks. This would solve everyone's problem in a simple, elegant way. The Wikidata folks are concerned about internal consistency, so they want Articles paired with Articles and Categories paired with Categories. That's fine, I understand their desire to be consistent. Everyone else, the other projects, are not interested in the way Wikidata organizes itself and just want the links to show up. These two perspectives are not inherently mutually exclusive. The problem is that currently the only way to make interwiki links show up in the Commons category page is to add it to the site list which breaks symmetry. Also, it should be noted that the solution I am proposing here is already half implemented. The commons category property is already being used to generate intewiki links, but it only generates them on one side of the equation. If you add a commonscat property to a Wikidata item the interwiki link to that category will show up on the respective Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, whatever project article page. But the reverse is not true, those articles will not be listed as interwikis links on the Commons category page. See Kananur on Wikipedia and the corresponding Commons categoty on Konanur. Also notice how the "Wikidata Item" link in the Tools section of the sidebar only shows up on the Wikipedia page and not on the Commons category page. (If this goes forward that link should be added also) I am not asking for anything new or revolutionary here, just that the current, existing functionality is implemented in full and not halfway as is currently happening. We are validating the Wikidata sitelinks against the sites table provided by core. We do have nice wrappers around the core service, so adding our own alias support should not be hard. The relevant file to touch is https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-Wikibase/blob/master/lib/includes/Modules/SitesModuleWorker.php. However, I wonder if Wikibase should manage it's own sites aliases or if this should be a core feature. xcombelle added a comment. @Josve05a If I understand well, it is just a matter of wikidata policy, if Category would be treated as a valid interwiki for commons, it is not a technical issue (I mean there is no need of new development). So it would be relevant discussion on wikidata, but not here.
