CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONWikibase could be highly useful for other projects, such as organizing OpenStreetMap tags. Storing string IDs as regular properties would cause a number of problems: they are not unique, they are mutable, they can be easily deleted, and there could be more than one defined per entry.

Would it be possible to either have a user-provided entry key, or a special immutable single string value property? It might be even OK to allow such entry creation via API only, and not to have a UI.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T192249EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: YurikCc: Aklapper, daniel, Yurik, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Edited] T173594: Add support for “separators” parameter of “single value” constraint type

2018-04-15 Thread Lydia_Pintscher
Lydia_Pintscher updated the task description. (Show Details)
CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONThere’s a new property,Some properties are supposed to only hold unique values in statements. [separator (P4155)](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P4155) ([proposal](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/separators)),This can be modeled via a unique value constraint. There are a lot of these values that only have to be unique with a given qualifier. which is used as parameter of “single value” constraint statements:As an editor I want to be able to define which qualifiers are acceptable to keep the uniqueness of values for a given property so I can model reality more completely without causing constraint violations.

> multiple values are allowed under the single value constraint if they have different values for this pExisting modeling example: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P856

Apparently this was already available in the old constraints system, but the extension never implemented support for it, and then it got lost for a while in the migration to constraint statements since the property didn’t exist yet.

@Esc3300 and/or @Ivan_A_Krestinin, I need some clarification of this parameter, because I can’t find any documentation for it beyond the property description (quoted above):Examples where this is likely to be used:
* heads of government over time
* official websites by country

---

- ~~The description (“they [the values?] have different values for this property”) sounds like it’s talking about statements, but this parameter is/was also used on non-entity properties like “NKCR AUT ID” (external identifier) and “official website” (URL). Strings and URLs can’t have statements, so how does this work? Qualifiers?~~ Qualifiers.
- What happens if one value has a ~~statement~~ qualifier for the separating property and one doesn’t?
- Are two //unknown value//s for the separating property considered different?Questions that came up:
- What happens if values have multiple ~~statements~~one value has a qualifiers for the separating properties~~,y and one doesn’t? possibly with different ranks~~?-> It is not considered a violation.
- ~~- Are deprecated statements oftwo //unknown value//s for the separating property generally ignored?~~ (no such thing as deprecated qualifiers)considered different? -> Yes.
- Should this also extend to the “multi value” constraint (e. g.What happens if values have multiple qualifiers for the separating properties? -> We are lenient and accept the values as long as the sets of qualifiers are different, must have multiple values with different ~~values~~ qualifiers foreven if the separating property)?y partially overlap.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173594EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Lydia_PintscherCc: Agabi10, Jonaskeutel, Marsupium, Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE, Esc3300, Ivan_A_Krestinin, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Edited] T167989: Add “integer” constraint

2018-04-15 Thread Lydia_Pintscher
Lydia_Pintscher updated the task description. (Show Details)
CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONWe should have a constraint that the value of a quantity must beSome properties are supposed to represent integers. This would cover T165152 (in combination with “range”) and mostly remove the need for T112247.As an editor I want to be able to define which properties these are so I can easily find cases where the property is used in a wrong way via the existing constraint system.

Violation message shown to the user on violating statements: "Integer constraint: This "$property" statement should only take integer values."
Constraint statement on the property: "property constraint" -> "integer constraint"

* number of participants in an eventTASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T167989EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Lydia_PintscherCc: MisterSynergy, Esc3300, thiemowmde, daniel, Jonas, Lydia_Pintscher, Aklapper, Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, Soteriaspace, Jayprakash12345, JakeTheDeveloper, QZanden, LawExplorer, Agabi10, Wikidata-bugs, aude, TheDJ, Mbch331___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Edited] T164744: Add violation type to restrict which entity types a property can be used

2018-04-15 Thread Lydia_Pintscher
Lydia_Pintscher updated the task description. (Show Details)
CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONWe might want to consider a constraint on the entity type of a statement’s subjectSome properties are supposed to be used only on one or a few entity types. As an editor I want to be able to define which entity types a property can be used on so I can easily find cases where the property is used in a wrong context via the existing constraint system.

- We currently have no way to express the constraint “only properties should have //property constraint// statements”, which has already resulted in some misuse of the property: [example 1](https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q1667500=478113631#P2302), [example 2](https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q21126229=477738338#P2302).Violation message shown to the user on violating statements: "Entity type constraint: This property should only be used on "$entitytype"."
Constraint statement on the property: "property constraint" -> "entity type constraint" with qualifier "TODO"

Examples where this is likely to be used:
* indicating that "property constraint" should only be used on properties
- This would probably also be useful in connection with structured data on commons – there might be some properties that we only want on mediainfo entities (not sure), but much more importantly there are lots of properties that we //don’t// want on mediainfo entities (only on items).* restricting "rhymes with" and similar properties to LexemesTASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T164744EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Lydia_PintscherCc: PokestarFan, abian, Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Agabi10, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___
