  I think the problem is squeezing so many deployments from Monday to Thursday, 
I don't know why we can't deploy the train to test wikis on Fridays given that 
I barely remember a train being so badly broken the required rolling back from 
the tests too, if Testwikis go on Friday, Then group1 can go in Monday, commons 
and wikidata on Tuesday (or Tuesday and Wednesday respectively) and the rest on 
Wednesday (or Thursday if split deployment of group1c and 1d)

  Moving Wikidata into group0 has the potential to deploy bad code there first, 
have that donsomething like break the S8 DBs and thus cause problems on all 
sites at the time of group0 deployment.
  
  Code ideally should land somewhere else less important first (group0).
  
  The interesting point for Wikidata and wikibase repo, is we only have a 
couple of these sites in production.
  Test commons and test Wikidata (group0)
  Real commons and real Wikidata (group1)
  
  These should not be combined into a single group.

ideally uncover them without letting Wikidata propagate and corrupt data to 
group2 and group1 wikis like Wikipedia, and Commons, and also without letting 
it take down those sites e.g. as part of cross-wiki backend dependencies.

  What's the benefit from doing it later? If wikidata problems propagate to 
other wikis, won't that happen regardless of the order? At least deploying 
wikidata during EU daytime means that it's more likely that someone familiar 
with the code will be around to take a look.

Issues in Wikidata usually propagates to all wikis, can Wikidata take it after

  (I was thinking the same). I don't have a preference other than for it to not 
mix multiple different naming schemes. Grroup 0-4 seems straight forward. Or 
Group A-F. Going with letters has the benefit of being a clean break so that no 
two people say "Group 2" but mean different things. (Hopefully we won't need to 
do this too many more times before automation takes over, but we can always go 
with 10-15, 100-117, A1-5, B2 -7, etc if 
we really need to.)
  
  We have also done per-wiki promotions directly at times in the past. So we if 
we're not sure actually whether this will stick, I suppose one could also try 
it out for a week or two without any change in group names. If not though, then 
yeah, let's pick a consistent naming scheme, any :)

  Intuitively, I think Wikidata would benefit from being deployed during 
European mornings. This way we get ample coverage from WMDE developers.  The 
actual promotion is a single command, the devil lies in monitoring the log.  I 
am definitely volunteering in training WMDE people to assist in the Wikidata 
promotion, if we go that way.
  
  For commonswiki, I do not know. Maybe it is fine to just deploy it with 
group1, but I think we sometime have to roll back just that wiki.
