The logic for determining the Content object for the undo based on the supplied 'undo' or 'undoafter' URL parameters looks like it's already in ContentHandler::getUndoContent(). EditPage calls through the stub in WikiPage, while ApiEditPage calls ContentHandler directly.

But note that the logic for undoing edits via the web UI ends with displaying the edit form with the undo content loaded (or not, if there's a "merge" conflict), so this probably depends on T174033: Refactor EditPage to allow multiple slots to be edited atomically [MCR].

Perhaps free form editing can be dropped from the undo function completely.

That sounds like a "torches and pitchforks" type of change.

EditPage will already have to deal with not-editing slots that aren't directly editable, all this would mean is the not-editing carrying forward the Content object from ContentHandler::getUndoContent() instead of inheriting the slot. We'll probably need to do something similar anyway for when someone edits an old revision rather than the current one.

When the undo operation spans multiple slots, free form editing should be disabled.

As a baseline, undo operations could just be denied of they would affect any slots other than the main slot.

That's probably the most straightforward approach until T174033 is done. At eswiki we mostly use it for the infoboxes and there are some things we have to do in many infoboxes that could be useful for others too:


Get the value of the qualifier of a known specific value for a property: For example, when we want to get the title in Spain for a given film, we need the value of the title qualifier for the claim has quality -> title for Spain (entity['claims']['P1552'] -> check if any of them has the value Q27847754 -> ['qualifiers']['P1476'][1])



Get the value of a property with a given qualifier and value: For example, when we want to display the different crew members that don't have their own property in Wikidata. If we want to display the art director we have to loop through all the film crew members and check who of them (if any) has a role of art director.



An easy way to sort the claims by label in a given language (for alphabetically sorted lists), by qualifier value (for dates or numeric values).



A way to get the most recent value for a property (like for the population of the cities and towns). Usually it should be set as preferred, and sorting these claims by date at Wikidata to make setting the most recent as preferred easier would work too.

TASK DESCRIPTIONWhen using action="" to undo an edit (or a series of edits), changes to all slots should be undone, not just changes to the main slot.
This means that the logic for undoing edits needs to be extracted from EditPage.

Some considerations:


Undo for non-textual can not use the generic edit page, and should probably not offer any free form editing ability (Wikidata has undo overwritten to behave like this). Perhaps free form editing can be dropped from the undo function completely.
When the undo operation spans multiple slots, free form editing should be disabled. A diff  for each slot should be shown for confirmation though.
As a baseline, undo operations could just be denied of they would affect any slots other than the main slot.

It's been a week. I think it's fair to expect the following at this point: Wikibase has 24 hours to either fix or disable the offending QUnit test(s). Alternatively, Wikibase will be removed from the extension gate sometime tomorrow.

Disabling a broken unit test is not difficult, should take mere minutes, and is regular procedure for this type of issue.

Still to be done:


enable those config settings on wikidata (and testwikidata, beta, etc.)
if everything goes okay, disable the “force writing” setting again
run maintenance script to kill term_search_key and term_weight. I think rebuildTermSqlIndex.php might do the job, but that should be tested manually. rebuildTermsSearchKey always writes the full search key afaict, so that’s not what we want (perhaps it should be updated)

Thanks again to @Anomie for the profiler details. The fixes made by @thiemowmde could help to reduce the computing time of the Wikibase related calls from former 5000 ms to 900 ms now. I agree with thiemowmde to investigate further improvements in frame of T182147.

I propose to separate the problem of expensive parser-function calls to another task. Most of these calls are made to create the Kartographer  extension tags. That's why I created the task T189769. From my point of view this seems to be the best way to prevent expensive parser-function calls.

At Wikivoyage (Modul:FastWikidata) we introduced some helpful and simple functions with support of @thiemowmde.
Searching for parent entities along a P31-P279 chain. Proposal: typeSearch( childId, idArray, limit ). childId is the entity id (or entity) to start the search. idArray contains P31 or P279 ids to look for. limit gives the maximum count of parent levels to search. typeSearch gives nil or a q id from the array. We need this search to get more general instances or classes. For instance: Q320366: we want to know that it is a train station (Q55488) instead of an interchange station (Q1147171).
A similar question is to ask for a state (see above) or first administrative division starting from any location.
We need a function providing an array with the first, n or all properties together with its qualifier values or ids. The qualifier itself is known. getPropertyWithQualifyer( id, p, q ). The result could be an array with items consisting of the value and a qualifier values array.

Today the computing time was similar to the values a few weeks ago. For https://de.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Halle_%28Saale%29, we have now 3700-3900 ms as compared to about yesterday's 8000 ms for 237 vCard templates. Comparing with other articles I estimated a computing time of about 11 ms for a vCard without Wikidata access and about 20 ms for a vCard with Wikidata access.
