On behalf of all our participants, a word of special thanks to the international open education pioneers who practice what they preach through the gift of video signposts for this celebratory OER workshop under open content licenses including: - Session 1: Stephen Downes http://wikieducator.org/Educators_care/Video_Signpost_-_Stephen_Downes , National Research Council of Canada - Session 2: David Wileyhttp://wikieducator.org/Educators_care/Video_Signpost_-_David_Wiley , Brigham Young University - Session 4: Cathy Casserlyhttp://wikieducator.org/Creative_Commons_unplugged/Video_signpost_-_Cathy_Casserly, CEO, Creative Commons - Session 5: Frances Ferreirahttp://wikieducator.org/The_right_license/Video_signpost_-Frances_Ferreira, Commonwealth of Learning. Observant readers will notice Session 3 is outstanding. You are the missing link! We invite all readers to consider creating a short video to introduce the session on Copyright: What educators can legally copy in an online world. You will find instructionshttp://wikieducator.org/Copyright_for_Educators/Video_signposton the video signpost page for this session. We hope to have a community choice poll for the best video signpost produced by the open community. We will commence Session 3 on 27 June 2012 -- so for maximum exposure, be sure to have your submissions posted within the next week. Only one (or two) days left (depending where you reside) to register for the 10th anniversary celebratory workshop since UNESCO adopted the OER concept. Hi Balqis You are correct Android supports flash videos. Unfortunately Apple iPad/iPhone doesn't so this is a way around it. HTML5 video provides the capability to deliver alternative formats - we'll have to wait and see how this develops. Cheers Michael. Re: [WikiEducator] BYOD Bring Your Own Device working group?
nowadays the concept of teaching has totaly changed after the introduction of virtual learning in schools. because now internet has become cheap, available in most of the village, also government has been trying to give better and quality education in a very affordable cost. The devices related to computer like laptop, netbook, tablet are become easy to purchase. If we could make the lessons to read in ebook format, then it would be a trtremendous change in education. sreekumar On Sun, Jun 17, 2012 at 3:55 PM, Valerie Taylor vtay...@gmail.com wrote: Perhaps now would be a good time to set up a BYOD Bring Your Own Device working group to address using mobile, personal and pocket devices in open learning. [WikiEducator] Re: BYOD Bring Your Own Device working group?
Thanks for your interest. I can set up an area for information and discussion in WikiEducator. However, I'm wondering what to call it. It depends on the focus so how narrow shall we make it? BYOD is specific to what students would own of their own but most aren't open. Perhaps this is a bit limiting. Mobile learning is pretty broad. Does this cover everything?
