Re: [Wikimedia-l] [Wikipedia 20] Rapid Grant survey

2020-10-02 Thread ruby damenshie-brown
Hello Samir,

I want to make an enquiry on behalf of Open Foundation West Africa.
We will be glad to host a Wikipedia birthday event at our end but what we
want to be sure is that we have a SAPG grant do we still have to apply for
the rapid grant or we should spend from our miscellaneous budget.

We will be glad to know your advice on this.

Regards,
Ruby D-Brown
Administrative Executive

[Wikimedia-l] Discover the itWikiCon 2020 program (with Jimbo Wales and Katherine Maher) and propose a poster

2020-10-02 Thread Ferdinando Traversa
Dear all,
We gladly announce that the itWikiCon 2020 program is now available on
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ItWikiCon/2020/Programma

You can take a look and get ready to follow your favorite sessions (remember
that the presentations will be freely accessible to all, while for the
interactive activities there will be a technical limit of participants). The
event will take place on October 24th and 25th.

You can also propose a virtual poster (which can also be an image or a video)
until October 8th following some simple instructions on
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ItWikiCon/2020/Poster

We are also happy to announce that we will have as special guests Jimbo Wales,
founder of Wikipedia, Katherine Maher, executive director of Wikimedia
Foundation, and Alessandro Barbero, Italian historian. We have the opportunity
to ask them questions and your proposals are welcome: suggest questions for the
aforementioned guests right on
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ItWikiCon/2020/Ospiti

Thanks for your attention and see you soon at itWikiCon!

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Updates from Wikimedia Foundation Board

2020-10-02 Thread Philip Kopetzky
Hi,

it is a bit puzzling to see an expansion of the WMF Board of Trustess at a
time where the start of implementing a global council is not far off. Right
now I can't see how these two directions will merge into one, especially
since the 2030 strategy does not make an appearance in this statement at
all.

Best,
Philip
