The Cutty Sark was almost destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt. I would
say it a visitor attraction (of very high quality) that it is a
facsimile of the craft that sailed the oceans. I have visited both
before and after the fire (and rebuilding). Some timbers would also have
replaced before the fire and also planned replacement during the 2007
conservation closure period when the fire took place.

Sir Arthur Evans also rebuilt an artifact, Knossos, and he used
concrete, which was not around in the era 1380–1100 BCE.

Has something has been "created" by a mind? I would say yes, to both. In
the case of the Cutty Sark, the ship was placed in a new "dry dock" so
that visitors can view the hull (for example).

Well, here is the abstract.

ABSTRACT
This qualitative study examines privacy practices and
concerns among contributors to open collaboration projects.
We collected interview data from people who use the
anonymity network Tor who also contribute to online
projects and from Wikipedia editors who are concerned
about their privacy to better understand how privacy
concernsimpactparticipationinopencollaboration
projects. We found that risks perceived by contributors to
open collaboration projects include threats of surveillance,
violence, harassment, opportunity loss, reputation loss, and
fear for loved ones. We explain participants’ operational
and technical strategies for mitigating these risks and how
these strategies affect their contributions. Finally, we
discuss chilling effects associated with privacy loss, the
need for open collaboration projects to go beyond attracting
and educating participants to consider their privacy, and
some of the social and technical approaches that could be
explored to mitigate risk at a project or community level.

My observation would be that citations come in many forms, and that a
agreed format does not appear to exist. Writing for a academic journal
authors have to follow the style of the journal. Should this be true in
Wikipedia and other projects?

On the other hand, has anybody considered the value of the total
volunteer effort towards the development of Wikipedia, Commons and
related projects? That is editing, software development, administration,
taking photographs etc.

In the UK, I believe that volunteer time is costed at about 15 US
dollars per hour (equivalent to 11 pounds?).

Do Chapters have to ask their membership, or are they empowered to vote

I am not sure how much Sue Gardner or Lila Tretikov affected my passion
for Wikipedia (in either direction), whereas some of the members on this
list have (positively). Recently attending Wikimania in London, UK
(where I live) and being a member of the local chapter, also going to
meetups and editathons locally have had a real effect.

I use Mediawiki to build websites.

I am a member of that unpaid workforce. Speaking personally, I don't
want to be paid. My local chapter (Wikimedia UK) will usually offer
travel expenses, for small amounts (e.g. within London). Larger amounts
might not be met.

As a serial volunteer, I tend to disappear quite quickly when I don't
have fun (or I don't get reasonable expenses).

YMMV,
