Dear Jayanta, It's difficult to work with journalists who may be rushing to meet submission deadlines and end up mis-quoting the facts or give wrong details :) Probably, it may help if you could do a Press-Note and send it to all the Media agencies. [Wikimediaindia-l] accommodation in Delhi - can some one help?
While we plan to be in Delhi from 29th Dec to 8th Jan for the GLAM project, our effort to get guest house accommodation at Delhi University South Campus for this period did not materialize. Can any one help us with some affordable source of accommodation? We are looking for accommodation for 4 people. Two people from 29/31Dec to 8 Jan, and two people from 2 Jan to 6 Jan. Gujarati Samaj in old delhi, is very affordable, not sure how far your venue is from there though. This place is conveniently located for Delhi Metro, 5 min walk from ISBT. But I think you need to have one Gujarati in your group. There are various pgs as well as cheap but decent hotels that would be available here. Areas near Karol Bagh and Paharganj would give you various cheap hotels, though Paharganj wouldn't be the best idea. Still, I've stayed in Hotel Shelton http://www.booking.com/hotel/in/shelton.html in Paharganj and it's very near the metro and not too bad either. Also in current weather, you will get a decent non ac room for around 900 bucks. Other than that checking online would give you access to better accommodation. There are lots of people who would love to rent their pgs or apartments as at this time most students go back home for holidays. Karol Bagh side would be slightly more expensive ~ 1600. I stay near Karol Bagh, so if you require any help, please inform me. These areas are very well connected via Metro and close to the New Delhi Railway station. Other areas will drive up the cost, esp in South Delhi. I myself would've joined this workshop but my schedule might not permit it. Feel free to drop me a message or call if you need any assistance.
