Re: [Wikimediauk-l] Encyclopedia Dramatica.

I think it is probably not to look at anything on Encyclopedia
Dramatica. It uses Mediawiki. That is the only thing in common with the
Wikimedia projects.

[Wikimediauk-l] Request for comment - 2012 Donor Newsletter Review - Updated

2012-08-02 Thread Katherine Bavage
Dear All,

I have now updated in detail the section on this Wiki regarding the survey
questions that we would like to ask donors. I am keen to resolve these and
look to open the survey by the end of next week if possible.

I would be grateful if you could have a look and make changes/leave comment
by mid-next week (Wednesday 8th August) so I can then aim to get the survey
live and the link emailed to donors at the beginning of the following week.

There are bits that may interest you all - such as the examples of projects
we fund (are they summarised effectively? Are there some we much
include/exclude?)

Also - I'm very happy to take further suggests for online survey tools -
I'm due to speak to Qualtrics representatives for an online demo this
afternoon.

Thanks,

Katherine, some people (myself included), may have not come across the
survey page yet, so it's best practice to provide a link to the page (
https://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/2012_Donor_Newsletter_Review#Survey) to make
it easier for people to find it, read it, and comment on it. :-)

[Wikimediauk-l] Message from Jon Davies, WMUK Chief Executive

2012-08-02 Thread Stevie Benton
Good afternoon all,

Jon Davies, our Chief Executive, has just posted the following message
regarding the call for an EGM on the UK Wiki:

I have discussed this matter with Fae this morning. He is keen that there
should be no division in the WMUK community over his role as Chair,
especially at a time when so many great things are being achieved. He has
therefore resigned as Chair. A board meeting, already scheduled for this
evening, will see the election of a new Chair. Jon Davies

[Wikimediauk-l] Wikimedia UK appoints new Chair

2012-08-02 Thread Richard Symonds
All,

I've been asked by the board to send out the following statement on their
behalf. This will be passed on to the full membership shortly, but it was
though prudent to get it out to the mailing list tonight.

The Board of Wikimedia UK today announced the appointment of Chris Keating
as its new Chair. This appointment is effective immediately.

Doug Taylor, another leading Wikimedian with thirty years experience of the
non-profit and charity sectors was appointed Vice Chair in support.

Chris has a background in fundraising and campaigning, and he is a
long-standing Wikipedia editor and administrator. Elected to the Board of
Wikimedia UK in April 2011, his main priority is making sure Wikimedia UK
communicates well with the Wikimedia community and with our other
supporters. His skills and experience will be invaluable as he leads us
through a busy, productive and important period.

The Board wishes to thank Ashley Van Haeften for his excellent
contributions as Chair of our charity. There is no doubt that he will
continue to perform well as a Trustee and volunteer, particularly in his
GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) work, where he is a
leader in the field. He continues as Chair of the Wikimedia Chapters
Association

This change in leadership will not affect the day to day operations of
Wikimedia UK as a functioning charity. The Board looks forward to
supporting the Wikimedia community as we continue to work towards our
objectives.

On behalf of the Board of Wikimedia UK,

Richard Symonds

I've borrowed lots of images from this site that are clearly out of
copyright. This site makes the general assumption of copyright where in
some cases there is no legal support for that position.
