[Wikitech-l] (Roughly) 2 week delay for MediaWiki 1.21wmf7
Hi everyone, Because a number of people are planning to take time off for the holidays, I'd like to postpone the regular release cycle for 2 weeks, with 1.21wmf7 being a slightly longer window than normal, and 1.21wmf8 stretched out a little bit as well to accommodate MLK day (January 21). Here's what things will look like in the revised schedule: 1.21wmf7: * Wednesday, January 2 (test, test2, mediawiki.org, wikidata.org) * Monday, January 7 (non-Wikipedia) * Wednesday, January 9 (English Wikipedia) * Monday, January 11 (other Wikipedia) 1.21wmf8 * Wednesday, January 16 (test, test2, mediawiki.org, wikidata.org) * Wednesday, January 23 (non-Wikipedia) * Monday, January 28 (English Wikipedia) * Wednesday, January 30 (other Wikipedia) We would then resume the normal cadence Monday, February 4 when we deploy 1.21wmf9. The nice thing about doing things this way is that the cycle stretches out the time that 1.21wmf7 and 1.21wmf8 sit on test2 over the normal cycle, which gives us a little more time to notice problems. Any objections? I don't think there's room to keep the standard cycle, but there's plenty of tweaking around the edges we can make. [Wikitech-l] Jenkins prevented mw/core merges
Hello, For a few hours, the Jenkins job mediawiki-core-install-sqlite has simply disappeared. I must have made a mistake this afternoon that deleted it. The end result is that changes that have been voted CR+2 would not complete the unit tests and were not merged by Jenkins. I have recreated the missing job and it is working again. If you want to resubmit a change, simply vote CR+2 on it and Jenkins wil rerun the tests for you. Re: [Wikitech-l] Sunday Nation (Kenya): Wikipedia sees future - and threat - in cell phones
We are just beginning to give attention into our mobile editing edits currently these are only available if you are logged in and have opt into the beta/alpha versions [1] of any of the projects sites. Currently photo upload only shows up when you visit a page which has no photos in the lead section. Currently it shows up in other places but a fix is on the way. It is also currently limited to Webkit browsers so if any volunteers want to poke at the code and give us greater coverage that would be awesome. Feel free to try out the Commons:Sandbox [2] or similar simply delete any existing images and give it a go. I was talking to Maryana about creating a page where you can donate images. I wrote a patch for this (yet to be merged) [3] that adds a 'donate image' link to the menu (I imagine in future this come be incorporated into a user page some how). This would allow you to upload images through your mobile device and then add them to articles later. I think this would satisfy the Antoine Musso's of the world :) [1] http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:MobileOptions [2] http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Sandbox [3] https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/39155/1 On Mon, Dec 17, 2012 at 12:32 PM, Tomasz Finc tf...@wikimedia.org wrote: Blog post about all of this (photo upload, editing etc) is pending deployment. [Wikitech-l] Small tweak to Gerrit Verified category - tomorrow
Hello, After some of the recent changes to the Gerrit workflow with Jenkins and Zuul, we've received some complaints about how Jenkins is reporting its results. Right now, it is using both the Verified and Code Review categories. This is bad because it gives you a false sense of what has been reviewed for most queries and dashboards. So tomorrow, we are going to tweak the way Jenkins reports back to Gerrit by extending the Verified vote range from -1..+1 to -2..+2. This will allow Jenkins to give a range of results, all in the Verified category (and keeping it out of Code Review, which will once again only be for humans). The new Verified range will behave as Code Review does now (-2 is veto, +2 for submit). Linting jobs will receive Verified ±1 votes. Unit tests jobs (triggered after someone votes CR+2, as it currently is) will receive Verified ±2 votes. So, anyone who's got Verified permissions on a repository (project owners, this means you), beginning tomorrow at around 13:00 UTC you will see extended Verified options. We'll let everyone know when this is complete. -- The Gerrit/CI guys Chad Antoine ___ Wikitech-l mailing list Wikitech-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikitech-l
