[Wikitech-l] major upgrade of PageProperties extension (new special page "Manage Properties" and slots!)

2022-08-30 Thread Thomas
hello,

I have uploaded a major upgrade of the extension PageProperties

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageProperties

New features include:

* entirely based on slots !

* Lots of improvements on the SMW side (new "Manage Properties" special page through which you can create/edit/rename properties definitions without to deal with property pages themselves, JSON-LD automatically created from the semantic properties assigned to a page, included in the HTML as script type "application/ld+json", Factbox now shows properties assigned through the extension without any hack in the SMW code, and more !)

*  displaytitle assigned to a page through the extension is recorded in the standard page_props table, so it can be handled by other extensions as well (like Extension:Display_Title)

* support for default values of display title and language (internally it makes use of the "hide-if" parameter of HTMLForm)

* if the page content model is "plain text", the content is shown as the user would expect (font-family: monospace; white-space:pre-wrap; word-wrap:break-word;)

and more ! Check the extension page for a detailed description.

The extension works at its best in conjunction with Extension:Semantic_MediaWiki, Extension:Display_Title and Extension:WikiSEO, however it can be used independently by them.

Please report any bug in the Talk page if you use. it.

Best

(Thomas)

[Wikitech-l] Re: [Small Wiki Toolkit] Writing Wikidata Queries Using WDQS Tool Workshop On Tuesday, August 30th, 16:00 UTC

2022-08-30 Thread Seyram Komla Sapaty
Hello everyone,

This is a friendly reminder that the workshop

starts in ~5 hours time (UTC 16:00).

Correction:
The previous message pointed to the wrong etherpad doc.
The correct link is here
.
The description should have also read:
*"This workshop will cover aspects of using the Wikidata Query Service,
with some discussion of ways in which Wikipedias can take advantage of its
capabilities for their own improvement."*

See you soon!

[Wikitech-l] A random thank you to the Wikimedia tech community

2022-08-30 Thread Strainu
Hi all,

With the risk of being off-topic, I want to express my gratitude to
all the members of the Wikimedia tech community for being such a
supportive and helpful group! Not only here, but on all communication
channels.

It's been years since one of my questions (most of which could be
classified as obscure) has gone unanswered. Also, I recently had to go
through all my emails since June and I noticed that except for a few
announcements and obvious spam, all other other threads had at least
one answer. For me, this is the sign of a great community to be in.

Thanks again and keep up the good work!
