I use Manage Engines Netflow Analyzer, free for 2 interfaces, reasonably
priced, give it a demo. It may be of use to you.

We capture flow-capture, part of flow-tools, from our Imagestream
routers. As of right now I only use the data collected to track
problems as needed.

I found these helpful:

[WISPA] E-Rate Process

2007-11-08 Thread David Wilson
Ladies and Gentlemen: Could someone provide an explanation of the
E-Rate process?

Specifically, I would like to understand the application process (front
end) and then the spending (back end) terms and conditions.

Thanks in advance for the effort.

[WISPA] Volunteers Needed

2007-11-08 Thread Rick Harnish
The WISPA Board has decided to begin two new important committees.

The first is a Membership Committee. This committee is charged with
developing ideas to drive stronger membership relations, add new
Principal/Associate and Vendor Members, Communicate with members to better
determine what is needed. George Rogato will be the Chair of this
committee. Committee members will be asked to contact potential
vendor/principal members and guide them through the signup period and make
sure they are educated with how WISPA can help their business and how they
can help WISPA.

The second is the Association Management Committee. This committee is
charged with discussing and developing a job description for an executive
director or legal counsel for WISPA. They will also discuss fundraising
projects and possible donations from members to fund this position. Our
association is growing and the board feels that we need to begin
investigating our needs to better manage the daily affairs of WISPA. Once
the groundwork is laid and we chose a direction, this committee will also be
in charge of finding possible candidates, interviewing and recommending the
right person for the job. We believe this is a very important step in our
advancement into the professional association ranks.

We are currently seeking volunteers for both these committees. I have asked
our mail listserv administrator to set up mailing lists for these two
committees. I will forward the signup details once the lists are setup.

Thank you,

Rick Harnish

Re: [WISPA] E-Rate Process

2007-11-08 Thread Felix A. Lopez
Dave - Here is a weblink:

http://www.sl.universalservice.org/data/pdf/ERATE_DISCOUNTS_FOR_SCHOOLS_AND_LIBRARIES.pdf

The E-rate – or, more precisely, the Schools and
Libraries Universal Service Support Mechanism –
provides discounts to assist most schools and
libraries in the United States to obtain affordable
tele-communications and Internet access. Three service
categories are funded: Telecommunications Services,
Internet Access, and Internal Connections. Discounts
range from 20% to 90% of the costs of eligible
services, depending on the level of poverty and the
urban/rural status of the population served. Eligible
schools, school districts and libraries may apply
individually or as part of a consortium. The E-rate
supports connectivity – the conduit or pipeline for
communications using telecommunications services
and/or the Internet. The school or library is
responsible for providing additional resources such as
the end-user equipment (computers, telephones, and the
like), software, professional development, and the
other elements that are necessary to realize the
objectives of that connectivity. The E-rate is one of
four support mechanisms funded through a Universal
Service fee charged to companies that provide
interstate and/or international telecommunications
services. The Universal Service Administrative Company
(USAC) administers the Universal Service Fund at the
direction of the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC); USAC’s Schools and Libraries Division (SLD)
administers the E-rate. This document summarizes the
process schools and libraries follow to apply for and
receive

[WISPA] Sprint and Clearwire scrap WiMax deal

2007-11-08 Thread Frank Muto

Sprint and Clearwire scrapped a pact to build a nationwide high-speed wireless
network based on WiMax.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119457536653487513.html

The two companies signed a letter of intent in July to pursue the partnership, which they hoped to finalize within 60 days.
But the complexities of the transaction and the departure last month of Gary Forsee as Sprint's chief executive officer made
it too difficult to reach a final pact, the people say.
The unraveling of the preliminary agreement is a blow to Clearwire. The company, founded by cellphone pioneer Craig McCaw,
has staked its future on WiMax, a longer-range cousin of Wi-Fi that can theoretically provide wireless broadband access from
laptops and cellphones at speeds comparable to what cable operators provide.
