Re: [WISPA] Best cat5 for a monopole

2017-01-18 Thread Clay Stewart
So far so good! The 16 port is just a switch, smaller ones are routers. The
16 is what we are using. powers 4 48vdc and 12-16 24vdc. Spring storm
season will tell. Considering the number of fried Netonics and Digital
Loggers over the years, with not just surge damage, but issues in
software... this caused the switch back about 6 months ago. Using Traco
power supply systems with battery backups and 110AC and DC surging, plus
UPS 110.

Re: [WISPA] Best cat5 for a monopole

2017-01-18 Thread Faisal Imtiaz
Most of the good quality outdoor Ethernet cables have a 'strength tape' in the
middle...
UBNT Carrier has a nice piece of plastic in the middle...
Shireen cable has a nice fiber tape ..
etc etc.

If you can tie these cables at the top securely, then there should be no issue
is letting it dangle in the center of the monopole.

avoiding trips up top is ideal.
