Only good experience with them. The radios just work. Some were 11 GHz, some were 18 GHz, only one or two 7.5 GHz. Throughput matched the nominal 200/300/400 Mbps for small packets; for large packets, 170 out of 200 Mbps and 360 out of 400 Mbps; those values are consistent with IP-based (not SDH/PDH) radios (they are not 140 or 155 Mbps multiples), but is the total opposite of what we would usually expect, as it is easier for the radio to deal with small packets, not harder. Considering the Internet traffic has 50% of 64 bytes packets, that would make the I-mix throughput pretty close to nominal; the monitoring software has RMON capabilities so you can see your packet size distribution in real time. Adaptive modulation worked hitless for reducing speed during rain periods, but not every time it would go up again. It was a 50-50 chance that ACM would bring the modulation up again, so it's an index you want to be looking at your NOC. We did some firmware upgrades without issues; license upgrades were trickier and sometimes Ceragon had to generate license files again after we've sent the output from the failed upgrades. Except for 7.5 GHz units all the models had integrated antennas; we regret boughting those from RFS instead of Andrew, but Ceragon offered both and the decision was based on price... :-( Rubens On Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 10:35 AM, Paolo Di Francesco paolo.difrance...@teleinform.com wrote: Just curious, what about Ceragon? Re: [WISPA] Dual Band Sectors
We have tested different types and found with the dual pol Sectors that Radiowaves makes an excellent antenna. They offer 2.4v and 5.8h or 2.4h and 5.8v. They offer 60 or 90 degree. We have used 3 90s for 360 coverage on a tower with great results. If you need further information feel free to hit me off list. Hello There, I am a volunteer IT guy spending some time in Honduras. I sent the list an email awhile ago for some knowledgeable guys in the WISPA space and I was impressed with some of your members' willingness to help. Im sending you guys a message so i have some feedback. We are here in Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras. We have a tower that we are housing some multi point equipment on. A low grade omni, with no back haul where other sites use to get connectivity as our Demarc for internet doesnt have LOS to all of our sites. Our sites are schools, 3 of them: Special needs, Elementary, High School. The current problem is the network is slow end to end (from Site - multipoint - demarc(internet) we have 800kbps, and 300ms) over 2.8kilometers. We are putting a plan together to build a backhaul (new radios) and possibly better antenna coverage if it is possible 1) Our multipoint site has two towers available, we are using one of them. 2) The second tower has an AM Radio attached to it. 3) The AM Radio is broadcasting on 650Khz @ 1KW of power on the 100meter tower 4) We have a smaller tower (20Meters) with some 200mW 2.4Ghz Wifi Radio 5) This WIFI radio is acting as a bridge to other sites we cant get LOS. The idea. 1) Rebuild the multi point with a 2.4Ghz back haul PTP, and a new Omni directional radio @ 300mW 2) Move the setup into the 100Meter tower on the same tower with the AM transmitter for better LOS coverage. The expectation of a problem: Will that work? Are we crazy to put a 2.4Ghz antenna @ 300mW on the same tower as an AM Transmitter on 650Khz @ 1KW. I am honestly expecting RF overload on some of the radios to cause problems. If thats not the case, then we could use the higher tower to serve an area better. We are not running a WISP here, mainly providing data connectivity between schools. Let me know what your guys's thoughts are. -Israel WISPA Wants You! Trango's TDD HDX was more felxible, and gave a more consistent better delivery of more real throughput per Mhz. Re: [WISPA] Redline AN100 question?
You have to have to setup a TOD/SNTP time server it wont work with NTP and also setup a DHCP relay server and in the sector controller put the ip address of the TOD server and DHCP relay server, this is done in the sector controllers management page. On your DHCP relay machine don't forget to add the ip of the sector controller and option 4 for the time server. Re: [WISPA] RouterBoard 112
Blair, This is what was on the 112 spec sheet. Powering The board accepts 11..60 V DC from either power jack or Ethernet port: ? direct-input power jack J7 ・5.5mm outside and 2mm inside diameter, female, pin positive plug. ? PoE compliant with IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet standard (except for no power over data lines is supported), which also accepts a wide range of non-standard input voltages. IEEE802.3af PoE controller is only operational starting from 22-24V DC, so the JP2 jumper should only be opened when powering from high-voltage standard compliant PoE injector. Note that the JP2 jumper position applies for both the power jack and PoE input. The maximal output of the power supply is normally 3.0A, but the efficiency is decreased on lower voltages, so it is about 2- 2.5A when powered from 12V DC. Re: [WISPA] tower install
HAHAHA thanks for the offer Bob. The crew I am leaning toward is a very respected group as I do my research. They will be using a gin pole and winch. That is also good to know for the $60-90 per foot. I knew it was around a buck a foot for climbers but didn’t know about construction. We had done a ton of small 25g towers but we are hiring this out for liability and solid professionalism. We thought we would have to pay for it but didn’t think there would be a 10k difference in professionals. If there are no cranes available you will pay more for a crew with a winch and gin pole. 200' is a safe price for $12-15K. Foundation depends on type of soil, rock, etc. Also accessibility to the area being developed. Make sure whoever you get has insurance and provides you and the property owner with a certificate naming each of you as additional insureds. BTW: If you can't get anyone I'll mobilize a crew to come out and do it TOMORROW for the $24,000! :-) I think you can do better. I have tested one or two of the R52H cards. The power levels across the frequencies and bands is very impressive as far as how even they are. I will warn you - if you mess with (turn up) the power settings you WILL blow them up - almost instantly. They are set to run as high as they can with the default settings in MT - also - you really need to never ever power one on if you don't have an antenna or terminal resistor hooked up. These cards put out more power on 5GHz than the Senao 8602H or S models. I would recommend getting one of these meters and setting the Tx down a dB or two for safety (make sure you check the performance) - you need the meter becaust the default settings in MT don't always match - although I believe they are real close on these cards.
