Re: [WISPA] Accounting Software to Replace PC Based Quickbooks
We use QB desktop 2016 version for everything except processing credit cards. Learned quick I did not want Intuit to control my credit card deposits. We work with an online bank, Propay.com for our credit card needs. They note they work with internet providers and have been very good. https://www.propay.com/en-US/Industry-Solutions/Internet-Service-Providers We use QB for monthly invoicing and work with local accountant to manage reconciliations of expenses and payroll to be sure all is correctly entered. For me it is cost I pay per IP block. I have a small block so price is higher. One supplier I checked was $70/month for 5 public IPs, so $14/month/IP. [WISPA] Dragonwave Horizon Compact - one way traffic only?
I have a backbone with 5 licensed links. Each link is switched to the next, forming a continuous L2 network. Yesterday evening, we had a partial breakdown on the very last link. I could see traffic /from/ the far end, but the far end was unable to see traffic from this side. I could see discovery packets, I could see OSPF multicast traffic. I could even see some stuff from a few devices that are bridged or switched in on the other side of the link. The last device that was responsive to me, was the Horizon Compact on the near side of that last link. Nothing notable in the logs, so I reboot and a few minutes later, everything is back to normal. I can't find much of anything in terms of peer-to-peer support for Dragonwave equipment, so I figured I'd ask here. does anyone have any experience they wouldn't mind sharing about Dragonwaves? Re: [WISPA] Preventing stupid outages
Thanks Matt! Yeah, the outlet itself is on a post next to the tower foundation and a dropcord feeds into a NEMA box mounted on the tower (no shack). We have a few sites set up like this, and I think I'm going to hardwire everything before we get much further into lightning season. Since posting, I spoke with an electrician who has done some other work for us, and he also suggested yanking the GFCI. I don't know why this was installed this way. I'm thinking that the electrician who did the original work was thinking more residential than industrial. I'll leave the GFCI outlet in place as a convenience outlet to provide the extra protection when we're out there working. -Troy > -Original Message- > From: Matt Hoppes [mailto:mhop...@indigowireless.com] > Sent: Friday, March 16, 2012 9:09 AM > To: WISPA General List > Cc: Troy Settle > Subject: Re: [WISPA] Preventing stupid outages > > You have to have GFCI outlets indoors? How does one typically monitor remote locations to know when/if they're running on generator? I'd like to know when a generator exorcises and when it's running due to a power outage. The easiest solution I can think of, is to stick an old routerboard at the site to run from the generator only, then monitor it to know when we're on genny power. This seems a little klunky though. [WISPA] Licensed vs Unlicensed / Carrier-class vs not
Other than making some guy in a suit feel good and being safer from interference, what advantages are there to running a so-called carrier class system using a licensed frequency? -- Troy Settle, Network Administrator The Wired Road Authority 1117 E.
